FWB20 = 20% off (almost) everything at Need Supply Co.
What is Need Supply Co.? It feels a little like a high-class Urban Outfitters… only that’s not quite right. They’re a bit of an anomaly. They’ve got elements of street corner smokin’ hipster, and carry high quality heritage goods that are built to last. A lot of what they carry can be up there in terms of price, so a code like this helps. Note that the FWB20 20% off code doesn’t work on Aldens, so, those Indy boots are out. You’re on the hook to the tune of $7.95 for returns (plus original shipping charges). Here’s a look at one possible top 10 for this sale…
#1. Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot in Brown – $288.00 ($360)
Yes indeed, these are up for the 20% off cut. Made in the USA, classic looks, and a goodyear welt. Nice thick leather too, although it breaks in fast and gets supple in a hurry. With Sierra Trading Post doing their best to keep Wolverine 2nds unavailable for codes, $288 for a pair of first quality 1000 Milers seems pretty solid. UPDATE: These went quick yesterday when the sale & this post launched. Just 10.5 left this morning (10/29)
#2. Filson Original Briefcase in Black – $198.40 ($248)
Under $200, made in the USA, and a new take on a legend. Their new black collection takes a bit of the Scout-Leader look out of their usually earth-tone briefcases, and injects more of a city, dressed up vibe. UPDATE: These are gone. All sold out now.
#3. Filson “Medium” Duffel in Navy – $260 ($325)
Quite possibly the last duffel you’re gonna buy. At least for decades. 25″ x 14″ x 13″ so this is no tiny “Carry-all”. This’ll get you through an extra long weekend. They didn’t always carry navy options, but these got released in the last year or two. Made in the USA.
#4. Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot in Black – $288.00 ($360)
Despite the official position of this website that black shoes & boots are unfairly waived off by most in the menswear community in favor of brown… most aren’t going to find a black pair of boots as versatile as brown. So, they get dropped to #4. Still though, bet on em’. Always.
#5. Woolrich Atlas Throw in Black or Green – $44.00 ($55)
Yeah, it’s a blanket. But, if you’ve got a guest over, y’know, to watch some movies or something, you gotta have something better than an all poly fluff blanket sourced from TJ Maxx. That’s not a real good look. These look fantastic whether in use or not, they breathe well, and they’re a good investment you’ll have for a long, long time.
#6. Herschel Cotton Canvas “Novel” Shoe Compartment Duffel – $96 ($120)
Not a half bad gym-bag. Extra compartment for shoes so your stinky kicks will stay away from your… stinky used gym gear? Always nice to be organized. 2310 cubic inches of space. Indigo cotton exterior.
#7. Filson Dopp Kit – $76.00 ($95)
Yep, lotta Filson on this top 10. But for good reason. A splurge for a dopp kit (especially if you’re used to just throwing whatever toothbrush the dentist gave you last trip into a zip loc pre-trip), but maybe a really good gift idea for the traveler on your holiday gift list this year? Get a load of all that leather.
#8. KOMONO Magnus Watch – $80 ($100)
Not what you’d call a “classic” design, but modern and minimalist without getting weird. Japanese quartz movement, leather NATO strap, a nicely shifted crown to 4 o’clock, and a beastly 46mm case. Yes. It’s big.
#9. Billykirk Brown Dublin Leather Carryall – $379.20 ($474)
Drops this low on the top ten due to the price, even with the 20% off code. But goodness. That leather. The up close shots are drool worthy. Made in the USA. 20″ x 14″ x 12″ = 3360 cubic inches, which is neither cramped nor enormous for a weekender. Pack it up, throw it in the trunk, and take off. UPDATE: Looks like they have one of these, in black, over at East Dane for fifty bucks less.
#10. Izola Balsam Fir Incense and Holder – $13.60 ($17)
Got it. Enjoy it. If you like the smell of a wood burning fire, but don’t have a fireplace in your place… these are a nice substitute. Unmistakable pine scent but more wood smoke forward.
The 20% off Friends w/ Benefits code FWB20 expires on Thursday, 10/30/14.
