As a thanks to the vast majority of you who choose to not use extensions like adblock on Dappered, we’ve started devoting 5-10% of our total ad space to showing art instead of ads. This initiative not only makes the site look better, it also gives some free exposure to a few artists each month. If you or someone you know might be a great fit for Art As Ads, send an example of work, plus a short bio, to submissions@dappered.com. Be sure to check out the Art As Ads terms and conditions before submitting. Here are this month’s artists,
Adam started photography as a hobby when he took an old film camera with him as he and a friend backpacked through New Zealand & Australia. He found that the love of photographing landscapes and natural wonders quickly expanded to include photographing people and events. Over the past ten years Adam has expanded his portfolio and started to work as a photographer on a more professional basis.
For Shawn Mackey, the most memorable moments in life are those which create a sense of spiritual awareness. His paintings seek to capture these fleeting states of heightened energy. Whether they originate in human experience or from interactions with the natural world, he wants to express the feeling of being charged with this vital force.
Ben Madeska has worked in a variety of media, but recently has focused on oil painting. Often exploring the tradition of still life painting, including an ongoing series of paintings of raw meat, his work features realistic renderings and stripped down compositions that occasionally veer into abstraction. He studied at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and currently lives and works in Chicago. When not painting, he’s putting a Saddleback through a century-long test drive. 97 more years to go with that project.
