Gilt City: Take an extra 25% off at J. Crew Factory
“Gilt City” is Gilt’s flash-sale site version of Groupon or Living Social. Usually their deals are city specific (hence the “city” in Gilt City), but they’ll run national offers like this from time to time. Here’s how to get the most out of this voucher, if you so choose.
1. Get the voucher.
You’ll have to hand over an email address if you’re not a member at Gilt.
2. Wait for the voucher to show up in your inbox.
You’ll get more than one email. The first email saying you’ve “purchased” the voucher for free, and then another email will deliver the voucher. Took 20 minutes for me.
3. WAIT. It’s not that good of a deal yet. Expiration is Sunday 9/15.
Don’t use it just yet. J. Crew Factory’s prices fluctuate wildly online, and they just went back up after the Labor Day weekend. The new herringbone blazer was priced at $118.50 over Labor Day, but now it’s back to $168. Use the voucher now and it only drops to $126.
We’re waiting for the next “extra 30-50% off site-wide, no code necessary” sale. Not having to use a code is key. These gilt city vouchers go in the promo code box. So, if Factory runs an “extra 30% off with SHOPNOW” code or something similar? You can’t use both.
The Gilt City voucher goes in the promo code box. It’s not considered a giftcard.
So if Factory runs a 30% off code, you can’t use both.
And speaking of doubling up, there’s this in the fine print on the GiltCity deal:
Cannot be redeemed for cash or combined with any other offer
Hmmm. Define “offer”. Is an “Extra 30% off sitewide!” sale an “offer”? Who knows. Worst case scenario is you don’t use it. The cost is handing over an email if you’re not already a Gilt Member. The payoff could be getting 30% off during a sale, and then an extra 25% off with that voucher. Lots of ifs. Could be worth a few clicks though.
