What’s Dappered Threads? It’s our forum. Launched in 2011, Threads is a not too big, not too small, just-right-sized forum that doesn’t put up with snobbery. All thanks to the users and hardworking mods. Once a month, one of the mods from Threads provides us with a highlight package of the last few weeks.
What Watch I Wore Today
Watch lovers, unite. If watches to you are what classic cars are to Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno, then you just might enjoy perusing this Thread. From vintage collectibles to every-day affordable options, and everything in-between. And yes indeed, digital watches on safari absolutely make the cut. If you have a timepiece to share, or just want to check out the watches other Dappered readers adorn their wrists with, head on over to this thread.
Discount Shoe Intervention
evenparker solicited advice from the Threads users on whether or not to take a chance on some AE loafers from the Shoebank site. With the “someday” goal loafers being $650 Alden options, counsel was needed on whether or not the AE’s would make a good stand in. dennis19 suggested looking at AE Kentwoods, while ryn and pixelpusher just plain advised against the purchase. In the end, evenparker ended up with a pair of AE Randolph’s in shell cordovan sourced from eBay (as shown above).
Golf Anyone?
A Thread in the making, user devastitis took an opportunity to solicit golf club advice. There was some sound direction given about brands, where to find clubs for a deal, and even the reasoning behind purchasing a matched set rather than piecing a set together. There’s no information as of yet on golf attire in the Thread, but user Saporitoe would invite some: “I suspect those of us who golf try to look put together on the course as well. If my skill isn’t good, hopefully my outfit can be.” For some guys, looking their best in any given situation just might impart the confidence needed to excel.
How about Navy Seersucker after Labor Day?
Another solicitation for advice, this time bsm85 needed help deciding if a navy seersucker suit would be appropriate for a wedding post-Labor Day. The majority of Threads users were of the opinion that yes — you can wear it, as long as it’s weather appropriate. User BB brought up the point that there are some traditionalists in the South that might make hay of it, but there’s always the option to not care what those of more conservative style values think. Our take? bsm85, if you like it, and it’s comfortable, wear it.
