Nordstrom Winter Clearance 2016
Full honesty: After cruising through all 3500+ items… this doesn’t appear to be the best sale. It’s a true clearance. Sizes are scattered here and there, and the stuff that is on sale? There’s a lot of filler. But, it’s still Nordstrom. So that means free shipping and free returns, all the time. They say this sale is supposed to “expire” on 2/21… but then what happens? Who knows. Picks, as always, are limited to items that had at least a decent size selection at post time, unless otherwise noted.
7 Diamonds Quilted Panel Lambswool Knit Jacket – $89.90 ($149)
Really impressed with this thing. Had it for a few months now and it’s holding up just fine and then some (no stretching/slouching to the knit parts, and the zipper is thick and solid quality). Nordstrom suggests to size UP, but I gotta disagree. That’s a medium on 5’10″/190. There’s a little wiggle room, so sizing up would be too roomy. Black is all but sold out, but there’s a good size selection left in the navy.
Skagen Holst Watch – $92.98 ($155)
One of the best watches from last year finally goes back on sale (its been full price just about everywhere for quite a while now). First class looks for coach, stuck next to the bathroom door pricing. Full review here.
Cole Haan Cambridge Monk Strap – $149.90 ($258)
A versatile single monk with a slick medallion at the toe, and from one of CH’s higher quality lines. Pretty sure those soles have a real stitched welt too. Should look solid with suits and jeans.
Filson Cover Cloth Mile Marker Waxed Cotton Coat – $198 ($330)
A legitimate field coat made from Filson’s waxed cotton “Cover Cloth.” Internal draw-cord gives the coat a little more shape/locks out the wind. Moleskin lined collar. Made in the USA.
Topman Wool Blend Trench in Navy or Charcoal – $99.90 ($200)
Pictured above left is a version from last winter. Looks like they lost the gun flap (upper right shoulder area )and changed the lower pockets. But other than that, it’s still a mainly wool, really affordable, just different enough piece of outerwear. You also don’t have to wear the belt if you don’t want to. Looks just fine without it.
Sperry Authentic Original 2 Eye Boat Shoe – $55.90 ($99.95)
Multiple, if not somewhat limited selection on colors, but not a bad price for Sperrys. Also, grey is a pretty versatile shade for a summer/laid back shoe.
Nordstrom Quilted Nylon Shirt Jacket – $88.80 ($148)
A transitional quilted jacket that comes in a color other than dark navy or black. Regular fit here. Corduroy collar. Snaps at the sleeves.
Nordstrom Classic Fit Windowpane Wool Sport Coat – $197.65 ($295)
Might be worth a shot for the guys with a little more weight on their frames. “Classic” fit, all wool, and a subtle glen plaid pattern.
Nord. Blackwatch wool – $24.75 | Striped Cashmere Scarf – $49.75
Two classic scarves that are easy to wear with either a dressier topcoat or a more dressed down pea coat or jacket. Both are half off.
Vince Camuto Ticket Pocket Wool Blend Topcoat – $198.90 ($398)
Been sitting at this price for a bit, and there’s a good amount of sizes left in the camel and charcoal. Big fan of that extra ticket pocket on the side. 63% wool blend, with thinsulate for extra warmth.
Nordstrom Driving Gloves – $34.75 ($69.50)
Driving gloves are perfect for temps in the high 30s – low 50s, which is precisely the time of year we’re coming up on. Just enough warmth, just enough protection, but your hands won’t be sweating away like they would if you were in something thick and insulated.
1901 Calgary Chukka Boot – $65.90 ($110)
From Nordstrom’s in-house “1901” line. Sure appears to be more substantial/have more structure than your basic desert boot.
Schott USA Made SLIM Wool Blend Peacoat – $224.98 ($375)
Bit of a legend. If you can’t find a peacoat at your local Army/Navy surplus, than the Schott version is going to be as close to the real thing as it gets. That, and they’ve made it in a slimmer fit here. Not cheap. Doesn’t feel cheap either.
Polo RL Moto Gloves or Quilted Racing Gloves – $43.98 ($88)
This is the best time of year to pick up a pair of gloves. And while winter should start to fade, at least a little, in the coming weeks… there’s a ton of glove weather left. Good quality on these. Warm without being overly bulky. Sizes are moving fast.
Skagen ‘Hald’ Multifunction Watch – $98.98 ($165)
Different, but not in a bad way. 40mm should be wearable by most, plus it’s a Skagen, so it’ll be nice and slim. Small, Arabic numerals anchor the outer dial, but that blank spot at noon is not the norm. Kinda refreshing though. Won’t be everyone’s taste.
Brooks Brothers Lambswool Quilted Jacket – $198.98 ($398)
Probably as low as it’s gonna get. Caught a few eyes when it hit the Brooks Brothers site with the new fall arrivals. Made from lambswool, with Italian Flannel front panels. The quilting and the buttons and that stand up collar make for one outstanding looking casual jacket. Still pricey. Down to just large and XL left.
John W. Nordstrom Fabriano Cap Toe Derby – $116.98 ($195)
Not bad for a made in Italy dress shoes. Certainly leans modern in shape and at the toe. A blucher with open lacing, but still plenty suit-worthy.
Woolrich “Americana” or Traverton Wool Throw – $118.80 ($198)
Hey look! High quality (and expensive) wool blankets on Dappered! Pretty sure this is what 95% of you are hearing right now.
The Nordstrom Winter Clearance sale is set to expire on Februrary 21st. Not sure what happens after that, being that most (all?) of these goods were already in the sale section before it started.
