Overheard on Threads: New Suitsupply suit available in separates
I see a lot of people say they can’t fit in Suitsupply pants. Those people probably aren’t looking at the website, so I wanted to share this. It’s a navy Havana in traveler fabric available in separates.
Well that’s new.
Suitsupply’s pants have been troublesome for more than a few. There’s just not a lot of room in the seat and/or thigh, and a tailor can only do so much. And that becomes a big problem when the suits are only sold as “nested” or married pairs, with the jacket & pant being inseparable. If your dimensions fall out of their “drop” zone to the point where a tailor can’t make that major of an adjustment… you’re out of luck.
Suit separates, where you individually pick the size of the jacket and then the size of the pant are usually the answer. And by most accounts, Suitsupply has been reluctant to provide separates. Until now. Kinda.
There are just three options:
From Left:
- Napoli Navy Pinstripe Jacket – $370 & Pant – $129 ($499 total)
- Napoli Dark Grey Pinstripe Jacket – $370 & Pant – $129 ($499 total)
- Havana Fit Navy Traveler Wool Jacket – $399 & Pant – $200 ($599 total)
So two pinstripe Napoli fits, and one Havana. Not a ton, but it’s a nice start. And while the one solid option (the Havana) has more casual patch pockets, none of these three designs are too far out there.
The easiest way to find these separates (and any future separates options) is to take a cruise through their “jackets” section. Normally reserved for Sportcoats and Blazers, if you see a suit? Click on it and you’ll find the suit coat. Then, look for the link to the matching trousers under the description. Hat tip to the guys on threads for being the first ones to spot & investigate this new option.
Now only if Suitsupply would offer some jackets with non-functioning sleeve buttons, so it won’t cost an arm and a leg to tailor, then even more of us would be happy.
