Consider these to be power rankings. Whether you’re looking for gift ideas or a quick upgrade for yourself, expect these to come around about once a month. You’ll find new arrivals and old favorites, especially good deals, or maybe something pricey to keep an eye on for future sales. 5. Johnston & Murphy Tyndall Cap Toe Chukka – $104.99 ($175)
That’s a lot of looks for barely more than a hundred bucks. The less fortunate man’s Bleecker Street. Sure they’ve got glued soles, but J&M’s bondwelt construction is usually quite nice. Leathers are going to be decent but not spectacular. Really nice price on these via the Zappos/Amazon owned 6pm.com. Should see plenty of use during the colder/crappier weather months. Not sure how to wear a pair of dress chukkas like these? Here’s just one suggestion.
4. Suitsupply 2/3 Roll Washington – $499 | Napoli Mid Grey – $399
Looks like the new Washington fits are coming with a 2-3 roll lapel? That seems to make for a noticeably slimmer peak lapel. Which is a welcome change for those of us who don’t like enormous peak lapels (their previous, half-lined Washingtons have pretty beefy peaks). Meanwhile, that latest addition to their $399 lineup is perhaps the most versatile shade of grey you can get. Wearable now. Wearable in the summer.
3. Banana Republic Double Breasted Trench – $175.00 w/ BRNEW ($250)
Banana Republic has a welcome tendency to release a classic, excellent, mid-thigh length trench once or twice a year. And while most of the country will be in their wool winter coats between now and March, it’s good to see they’ve got another trench ready for when the snow becomes rain. Standby for an in-person review. This one looks like its tail might be shorter compared to their trenches from the past? Liking the looks of that felt under-collar. Code BRNEW is good for 30% off full priced items through today, 1/6. Should drop further though with 35% or 40% off codes.
2. J. Crew Suede Cap Toe Boots (as long as they go on sale) – $368
Goodyear welted. Nice cap toe with a bit of broguing. Vibram sole. And fingers crossed that these, like their Kenton boots… drop in price at some point? Perhaps? Maybe? Can’t imagine they’d drop to the mid $100s like the Kenton collection has. But low to mid $200s?
1. Everlane’s New Wool Blazer – ??? (release: 1/22)
What’s the construction going to be like? Will it be super deconstructed? Perhaps a replacement for the all but gone Joseph Abboud soft-construction sportcoats? What will it be priced at? Will it be available in multiple colors? All questions that’ll be answered in a couple of weeks.
BONUS: Banana Republic Quilted Leather Gloves – $27.49 w/ BRSALE ($89.50)
Perhaps in the chaos of the holidays, you lost one of your favorite gloves? It happens. These appear to have a nicely insulated (faux) shearling/pile lining, the wool palms are a nice touch, and the quilted leather tops give them some visual interest. Nice snap there at the wrist too. Extra 50% off through today with the code BRSALE. Ships free too, since they were more than fifty bucks pre code.
