Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
Christopher Ward: 15% off Men’s Watches w/ FATHER15
The Picks: Malvern MK II Quartz Chronograph – $250.75 ($295), Trident Automatic in Charcoal – $467.50 ($550), MSL MK1 Quartz Chronograph – $408.00 ($480), Rapide Quartz Chronograph MK II – $348.50 ($410)
Yes, that Malvern is a quartz, but it’s one of the better looking quartz chronos under $300 out there. Completely suit worthy, and it’s hard not to like the rounded off rectangular pushers. Plenty of autos to pick from on the site, but if you’re unfamiliar with Christopher Ward Watches… take a deep breath. They get spendy.
Macy’s: Men’s Private Sale – Extra 25% off purchases of $100+ w/ FORYOU
The Pick: Bar III Linen Blend Jacket – $97.49 ($129.99)
“Men’s Private Sale” always sounds strange. Anyway, the purchases have to be over a hundred bucks to get the discount. Description claims that this one is unlined, so there’s a good chance that this could be a winner for some. Was just over that $100 threshold, but now with the code drops under a hundred bucks. Which means you don’t get free shipping, unless you find something dinky to include in your order. You can also print a savings pass and try to find this thing in store, but know that Bar III stuff doesn’t proliferate quite as much as say, Alfani Red stuff does.
Indochino: End of Season Sale (limited items)
The Pick: Ultimate Sand Linen & Wool Suit – $329 ($429)
Great if you’ve had good luck with Indochino and can’t find a summer suit you like for under $400. As always this includes up to $75 in alterations. Note that it appears you CAN have the jacket made with a partial instead of full lining, but make sure you contact customer service before you buy the suit just to make sure.
CountyComm.com: Two Maratac Automatics are in stock
The Picks: Maratac Large Pilot – $279, Maratac GPT-1 – $349
The GPT-1 is a new design with a rotating bezel and uses the hacking Miyota 9015 movement (same one in the Techne Harrier over here). Seems to be only a few available at post time. The Maratac Pilot is not new. It’s the 2013 model, but it’s been dropping in and out of stock for awhile. What IS new about the large Pilot is the price. $279? These were just $199 a few months back.
GANT: “Sunset Sale”
The Picks: Linen Pinstripe Blazer – $248 ($495), Contrast Cottton Shawl Collar – $83 ($165), Solid Linen Blazer – $248 ($495), Bar Stripe Heavy Rugger – $60 ($120)
Not a tremendous weekend for the more affordable retailers, but if you’re looking to splurge, GANT has marked down much of their spring and summer collection. Even with the markdowns, we’re still talking $50 – $70 polos. This linen Pinstripe blazer has real potential though. Softer construction. Lined in Viscose. All sizes (European) are available at post time.
UPDATE: Careful with this one, looks like items are final sale (so no returns) if it’s 50% off or greater. Many thanks to IronRinn in the comments for the heads up.
Also worth a mention: Bonobos has added a few more items to their sale section (key word is “few”). Maxton Men is offering 15% off orders of $50+ with the code GET15. Billy Reid’s sale section has some interesting and spendy items in it, so if you want to lose your shirt on buying a blazer, there’s this Italian Made linen one, down to $438 from $625. J. Crew Factory is running a 25% off site wide sale (prices are marked) with an extra 15% off purchases over $100+ with the code SPREE (but stock of the Thompsons is real low). Amazon is running a 20% off select shoes + accessories over $100 sale with the code SHOE4DAD, but it’s mainly casual shoes and slippers.
