Bespoke Post March 2013: “Threaded” – $45.00
For $45 per box, Bespoke Post will deliver to your door a “box of awesome” once a month. Inside you’ll find hand selected items curated for a guy like you. You can skip any box you want or cancel at any time. Click here for more.
UPDATE: Heard from the fellas at Bespoke Post, and it looks like the tie and pocket square are actually cotton, with some unfortunately mislabeled tags stuck to them. Regardless, not a favorite box from Bespoke Post by any stretch, but this is why it’s great that you can opt out each month within a time frame with no penalty. I brought up that the pocket square feels more synthetic than cotton, and the guys at Bespoke Post did a quick test… they set it on fire. If you’ve ever done any camping or fusing of nylon rope in the scouts, you know that nylon melts, and doesn’t burn. This pocket square burns. Fair enough. Don’t try that at home, and kudos to Bespoke Post for doing their best with getting to the bottom of it.
Give the guys at Bespoke Post credit. Been awhile since they… missed.
Last month they brought back the weekender. The month before it was a serious shoe shine upgrade/starter kit for most. Then there was those unique months that brought sausage or cocktail aging equipment. Y’know, the real unique stuff. This month’s “Box of Awesome” just isn’t as awesome.
It’s a miss. Not for everyone, but this feels like it’d be a miss for most of you guys reading this website. Those of you who are familiar with TheTieBar, don’t like logos, and usually grab socks on clearance at your local department store… that kind of thing. Let’s dig into it:
Maybe not going to be the most thrilling box for most of you.
Two pairs of socks from Gold Toe which usually run $6 (the argyle) and $9 (the black) respectively. Okay, we all need socks. Then there’s the 2.5″ wide slim (skinny for lots of us) tie that while sturdy, isn’t anything beyond something you’d get from TheTieBar. And actually instead of silk, cotton, or wool, this one has a tag that says it’s 100% nylon. And speaking of nylon, that’s what the pocket square is made out of too. You might expect cotton.
The red edges of the pocket square are a nice touch, and kudos to the designers for making it a less bulky 9″x9″. The tie bar is 1.75″ wide and has the logo of the “NYC street-inspired clothier” stamped on the front. Doesn’t feel bullet proof by any stretch. It’s reminiscent of the tie bars Indochino used to put in their “suit essentials kit“… but this one has that logo right there on the front.
A lot of us ask this question every single month: “Could I assemble a similar grouping for the same price?” For the first month in a good long while, many are probably going to answer that question with another question this time: “If I could, Would I really want to?”
Doesn’t mean many of us aren’t looking forward to seeing what they’ll be offering in April.

UPDATE: Congrats to Justin M. who won this month’s box from Bespoke Post.
Nylon is for women.
Nylon?
Was initially pretty excited about this box. Kind of disappointed to see that its all nylon products. Viewing their website, I assumed the tie would be a quality wool tie and cotton pocket square.
Ok, now I’m kind of pissed at them. https://www.bespokepost.com/box/threaded clearly says cotton for the tie and pocket square. I may not risk another box similar to this again with them turning out to be nylon.

Updated above guys. Check the correction.
Updated above, impressed with how Bespoke Post handled this. Turns out they’re cotton. Pocket square doesn’t feel super soft by any stretch though. But it does fit nice in the pocket.
Am I the only one that doesn’t “get” Bespoke Post? What’s the allure? I really want to like them, but I’ve never seen a box that looked worth it to me.
Why is everyone so mad about the nylon?
I have not been a huge fan of the products myself. But I have found 3 boxes subscriptions to be good wedding gifts to guy friends. I did like the “slate” box. Well worth the purchase
I appreciate that you’re telling it like it is. You could have easily tried to say it was a fantastic value since they appear to be a sponsor (on some level). Instead, kjudos for being an ambassador to your readers.
I keep waiting for a box of awesome that lives up to it’s name, I’m still waiting. Plain black socks and a white hanky… be still my beating heart! Don’t get crazy, Bespoke Post, you are getting out of hand!
I like the argyle socks. Not the tie, not the bar.
feel the exact same way. nothing jumping out at me. haven’t been able to pull the trigger yet
Wouldn’t buy it, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to win it!
Not feeling this, at all. I could put this all together for way less.
Thanks Geoff. They’re not an advertiser, and no money is exchanged for the giveaway (or any giveaway). And we don’t exchange product/keep samples for coverage either. There’s no time line with how long we do these, so if they go on a string of duds and they’re not worth covering anymore, we’ll stop. More on that and other stuff here: https://dappered.com/ftc-disclosure/
Just like what they’re doing and how you can opt out and the people that run it seem genuine.
I like the pocket square and the socks.
Slate month was wonderful. Many compliments from friends Shoe shine kit top notch–took 5 years off a pair of brown leather everyday shoes. Weekender not as nice as stuff I already have so…I returned it for free. This month nothing new or unique, let alone “awesome.” Really beginning to look forward to what they put together each month. Many more hits than misses so far.
Color me still skeptical. Nylon WILL burn, just not in the same way as cotton. Anyhow, if it feels like a synthetic and it’s labeled as a synthetic… I don’t want it even if it IS cotton.
I’m new to Bespoke Post… is the value-add in the products or the curation of them? In this case it kind of looks like there isn’t any.
IDK about this one Joe…
Looks like it’s too late to opt out, I like some of the users below was pretty psyched about this one…but seems like it IS a miss…we’ll see in a week or so when I get it.
I have read the terms and English is my second language so i just have to ask but, is it impossible for me to participate if i live in the Netherlands?
