It seems like retailers were offering solid discounts not just in store, but also on their websites during this year’s Black Friday rush. Have they taken a step back for “Cyber Monday?” You be the judge. Leave your take in the comments on which was better this year… Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Feel free to add any deals you spot as well.

Bonobos: 15% – 65% off a ton of different stuff
The web is where they want to dominate, and Bonobos is attempting to do that today with a load of discounting. Official word is “All discounts will be clearly marked by 9:00AM on Monday” and here’s just some of what they’re offering:
- Watches – 25% off
- Washed Chinos w/ plaid liner styles – 30% off
- Cords – 30% off
- Most outerwear – 25% off (but some styles up to 75%)
- Most shoes – 15%-30% off (but some up to 60%)
- Bonobos Cashmere – 30% off
- Core Suiting – 50% off – Fundamentals, GX, Tiger Sharks, and Banshees Suits
And that’s just a sample. They’ve also been running some banner ads on a few sites (including this one) with a very visible 20% off code BETTERFIT. Might even see those ads today. Might even want to try that code today.
UPDATE: Since their site crashed and burned today due to heavy traffic, Bonobos is extending the sale into tomorrow, which is Tuesday. Credit to them for doing that.
J. Crew: 25% off ANY order, and free shipping no minimum with SURPRISE
This never happens. J. Crew rarely, if ever, has a blanket site wide discount. It’s always the extra 30% off Sale items only, or, 25% off purchases of $125 and up. Not this time. Code also applies to J. Crew FACTORY. Shipping is free on all orders as well. Hat tip Jon for catching this one right away in the comments.
Endless: Spend More / Save More with CYBERMON
Potentially much, much better than their Black Friday 33% off select styles sale. This one seems to be site wide, although there are exceptions. But plenty of the desirables are just under the thresholds. Here’s how to tip the balance. For those looking to splurge, say you want the Allen Edmonds McTavish in black. Nice choice. But at $295 it’s just shy of the $100 off line. So, pickup what appears to be the cheapest thing on the site, this $7 pair of kids flip flops (and donate them somewhere?) to get over $300. Or you can always just get shoe polish.
Brooks Brothers: 30% off Sweaters, Shoes, & Leather Accessories. Free shipping no min.
Brooks Brothers doing a Cyber Monday type of sale? How progressive of them. The discount even applies to their Peal & Co. and Red Wing shoes (like these). Anyone have the style onions to pull off Monk Strap desert boots? Those are down to $140. For something smaller, their golden fleece embossed card case is under $70.
Express: 30% off everything plus free shipping
Not as good as the 40% off blanket discount from Friday but at least it’s not a tiered discount. Free shipping too, so if you’re getting just one thing, you actually could be better off today.
DSW: Spend more save more with code CYBER
To take advantage you do have to be a member of their “DSW Rewards” club,.which is nothing more than their email list. It’s worth it if you like DSW’s selection. Especially their house brands like Mercanti Fiorentini and Mike Konos. They also just started carrying Timberland’s 6″ City Zip. Already on sale and down to $139, it’s an extra $15 off with the code.
Banana Republic, Gap, Old Navy: 30% off everything with code HUGECYBER
Not quite as good as Black Friday. It was a 35% off blanket at B.R. on Black Friday, but GAP was all over the place. Still, you avoid the malls and get free shipping at $50. 30% is decent, just not eye popping.
Living Social: Half off gift certificates featuring Bonobos & Bluefly
Office Max, Sketchers, and magazine subscriptions were up for grabs all weekend. Now it’s time, reportedly, for the likes of Bonobos and Bluefly.
Lands’ End Canvas: 30% off Everything with DRUMSTICK and pin 1121
Still happening through today. Not a bad place to pick up a small gift or two for your significant other. They’re now showing the free shipping no minimum code DRUMSTICK and pin 1121 right on their website.
Which was better in 2011? Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Feel free to leave any other tips below…
