Johnston & Murphy Summer Sale
Little known fact. Did you know Johnston & Murphy has been designing and presenting a new pair of shoes to every United States President since Millard Filmore? Click here for that story.
Like Cole Haan, Johnston & Murphy deals mainly in shoes, but dabbles in apparel, accessories, and luggage. And also like Cole Haan, even when their items go on sale they’re still expensive. So prepare yourselves for a slight bit of sticker shock. Here’s a few picks from Johnston & Murphy’s current Summer Sale.
J&M Gaffney Moc Chukka – $129.99 (reg. $185.99)
Damn that’s a fine looking dress boot. Sizes seem to be highly limited in black, but the Burgundy Calf is available in 10 through 12. Not a bad thing to have on hand come fall when it turns to corduroy and wool weather.
.
J&M 1850 Collection 22″ Duffel – $299.99 (reg. $395.00)
Anything from their 1850 collection is going to be expensive (see their dowel rod carry on/brief). But it should last until 2050, and beyond. Coated canvas body with leather and brass accents. Pick a favorite friend or kid. Put it in your will with their name on it. They’ll be glad you did.
.
J&M Casual Money Clip – $9.99 (reg. $18.00)
Now we’re in a price range we can all afford. Just because you’re not in a suit doesn’t mean you can’t use a money clip. But keep it casual like one of these. Nice blue and white nautical color scheme, but it’ll be tough to pull off that white one once summer ends. Stick with the blue.
.
J&M Warring Venetian – $99.99 (reg. $140.00)
These are about as dressed up as a leaning casual loafer gets (but of course they could go well with business wear). And you have got to love how the stitching starts heading towards the toe, then does an about face and sweeps back. It’s almost strange that this many sizes made it this far.
.
J&M Conlan Plain Toe – $99.99 (reg. $140.00)
These are a good choice for the guy who wants a summer styled oxford but doesn’t want to jump full on in to a pair of saddle shoes. Casual, a great classic shape, and perforations that add a little something extra but stay the hell away from the toe.
Too bad their Gillum Runoff Black Laceups didn’t make it into the sale. Those are one sweet pair of shoes.
