The Three Best Protein Bars under 200 Calories
Face it. Any protein bar you buy at a grocery store or gas station won’t really be good for you. But sometimes as guys, we just get hungry. And sometimes as guys, we’re woefully underprepared. So when you get hungry, need some energy, but don’t want to dive into a snickers or some other calorie loaded gut bomb… try one of these instead. Dappered tested, and totally approved:
1. Balance High Protein Energy Bar – Peanut Butter
200 Calories | 15g Protein | 17g Sugar | 3g Saturated Fat
Seriously tasty. Simple, lower in calories. Not too bad if you’re a fan of natural tasting peanut butter, and don’t need the uber-sweetness of a Jif or Skippy on your morning toast.
.
2. Kashi Go Lean Protein & Fiber Roll – Peanut and Carmel
190 Calories | 12g Protein | 14g Sugar | 1.5g Saturated Fat | 6g Fiber – 26% Daily Value
Fiber? In a Protein Bar? One of the few things you might (and I mean might) find in a gas station that has enough fiber to keep all that other road food stuff moving through your system. Nougat center is dense and chewy. Makes you eat it slow but won’t break your teeth. Claims to have slow release carbs that’ll help keep your blood sugar in check. Difficult to find out on the road, so… buy a box and keep them on hand for trips. Bonus: looks the same going into your body as coming out.
.
3. Pure Protein High Protein 50g Bar – S’mores
180 Calories | 19g Protein | 14g Sugar/Sugar Alcohol | 3.5g Saturated Fat
Tastes surprisingly good for the package looking like it wouldn’t. Widely available in just about every convenience store out there. Tons of protein, but not a lot of natural stuff in it.
*And for the record, our favorite is the Power Bar original Peanut Butter Flavor. But those aren’t under 200 Calories.
