Armani Exchange Trench – $245.00 | Armani Exchange Double Breasted Coat – $179.00
What sets this Armani Exchange trench apart from others, is that the classic trench details blend in. Unlike the Express Trench, or even the just as expensive model from Banana Republic, the buckles at the wrists and belt line match the fabric of the coat. Which by the way is a perfect medium to light gray color. The length is neither too London-foggy long, or Topman cropped short.
Can’t stand the thought of having to deal with the belt? Armani Exchange also offers a similar double breasted coat, with most of the “trench-iness” lopped off. No epaulets or belt, shorter length, but it still looks like it could be worn with a suit. Best of all, it’s on sale for a getting close to affordable $179.00.

It might be because I just randomly woke up at 6 am, but I would have to go with the trench. I like the Americanized style on what can seem like a European look. Double Breasted Coats are also nice, but I would prefer a nice wool Double Breasted Peacoat. Also, Armani’s colour is slightly off for some reason. It’s trench or bust for me.
The trench looks nice and hip, but I wouldn’t say that either could be worn with a suit. They are both too short, especially the latter. If you look at the hands and wrist and then think about where they hit on a suit jacket, you can see that the first trench is about the same length and the second coat is much shorter. So these would be more of casual fashion jackets rather than a jacket you could where with a suit. I have been looking for a nice affordable trench to wear with a suit for a long time. Right now, banana republic has the most affordable options that come close. Other than that, to get a cool slim trench that fits nicely over a suit jacket, one has to go with burberry or get one tailored. I can’t find anything under $250 or $300 that fits like I want it too.
I really like the second one (coat), and could see myself wearing it more than the full trench. I don’t wear suits often, though, so I’m just liking that it is sharp looking, casual, without all the extra frills of the trench. I could see myself wearing it with a wide range of clothes, so it’s versatile for me.
