Timberland Euro Hiker 2.0 – $99.95
Sometimes it’s tough to find outdoor gear that’s not ugly. Yes substance should always trump style, but it’s like the designers of outdoor equipment took that as an excuse to make stuff that’s devoid of any kind of aesthetics.
That’s why the Timberland Euro Hiker 2.0 is a light hiker to consider. It’s got more guts than a standard trail running / light hiking shoe, but it’s certainly not something that’s so bulky you couldn’t wear it in the city. That and it looks terrific. Lots of smooth leather with breathable panels, and a retro-feel triple stripe bottom that leads into an aggressive black sole.
Does the one poor review on Amazon give these boots a black eye? Probably not. Look around the web and you’ll see that they’re reviewed pretty favorably in other places. Some complaints about the thickness of the tongue, and they might run a little small for some, but overall… pretty good.
Will you conquer the Appalachian trail in a pair of these? No. But they might be the best looking option for keeping the dirt and rocks off your feet during your favorite day hike.

**As with all hikers, break them in before you hit the trail. If they don’t work for your feet and you end up with bloody stumps because you didn’t try them out at home first, don’t come cryin’ to us.
