Club Monaco Wright Suit – $488
For the normal middle-class guys like me, $500 is a lot for a suit. But The LA Times points out in this article that Club Monaco is one of them sorta high-end joints, and they wouldn’t usually dip below the $500 mark when it comes to suits.
But then they realized: No one is spending money anymore. Seems like even some of the mid to high end retailers are starting to figure out that the masses can’t afford spending $500 or more on an article or two of clothing.
And this is good. Because they’re changing. Will this trend of more clothing-bang for the buck stick around after the recession subsides? I hope so. Especially when it comes to the well tailored options like the Wright Suit. Trimmer lapels and pants, shorter backs to the suit, etc… All designed by a guy who used to work at Brooks Brothers and came over to Club Monaco with the goal of designing a great looking and affordable Men’s suit.
Well done Mr. Tim Farah, who is the brains behind this option… seems like he has accomplished what he set out to do. And I hope he keeps it up.
Because even at $500… it’s out of my price range.
