J. Crew Workshirt – $65.00
Filed under the “instant gratification” section of J. Crew’s website, (Stuff under $100) this shirt is “finished with signature, authentic-inspired details like camp pockets, and made in fine 100s two-ply cotton.”
Translation: It’s a cotton shirt with two big pockets on each side.
Nobody who actually “works” would ever buy a $65.00 shirt that is made to LOOK like you should be out back changing your oil in it. Because anyone with common sense knows the shirts you wear to do real work in, cost $2.50 and they come from the local thrift store. And sometimes, they look and feel better than their more expensive cousins shoved next to the cashmere at J. Crew.
Why not just get a dickie’s workshirt? And if you want a tighter fit, have your tailor bring it in for a few bucks. Too long in the tail? Have your tailor bring it up for another dollar or two.
still looking for the work-shirt look for heading out on the town? Macy’s has a cheaper version that looks somewhat similar. Or check the sale racks at Gap and/or Urban outfitters.
Now… back to work.
