Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below, plus bonus sales if need be. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
The (obvious) Picks: Jomers Half-Canvas Italian Wool Suit in Grey or Navy – $250.00
If you can wait two to three months for it to arrive (and that’s a big if)… they’re probably gonna be a screaming deal. You can return it, but it has to be within 14 days and you’re on the hook for return shipping. Sleeve buttons are functional. 6″ drop on these, so, a size 40 jacket comes with 34 pants. They sent out an email a few weeks back saying that these new, half-canvas and Italian wool suits are made in a Hong Kong factory that Suitsupply uses and J. Crew also uses for their Ludlow. They also say that the fit will be similar to the Napoli. All sounds great, especially for the price, but waiting three months is gonna be a deal breaker for plenty.
“Today Only.” Yep, those are their words. So what happens tomorrow? Their clearance section is usually pretty consistent if memory serves, yet there appears to be a greater influx of newer, tempting stuff in it at post time. And yes, it’s not going to be everyone’s taste, but that oxford cloth sportcoat in light green (almost a “mint”) is kinda tempting. Gonna look great in the dead of summer, and can almost certainly go with jeans once the temps hit the mid 70s and the sun comes out.
There are some exclusions to this one (like jeans) but some of the usual exclusions aren’t in the fine print this time (like khakis). Not a bad time to grab some warm weather gear, like those washed chinos and those excellent looking bold striped shorts. Code is St. Patrick’s Day inspired, so, it expires today.
J. Crew’s promo email seemed to indicate that there’d be more spring-y styles in the sale section… but it still feels more like an end of the cold weather clearance. They have added some of their colder weather suiting to the mix though, so if you’re the type to buy out of season in order to save some serious cash? Then now’s the time to consider an investment.
Target can be a terrific source for outfitting your place stylishly, while on a budget. Just know that their upholstered stuff won’t be the most durable/or super comfortable, and leather? It’s barely leather. But the price can be right and it can hold up as long as you’re not really rough on furniture. Big fan of those wood topped metal stools. Industrial without being cold and rigid.
The Pick: Clarks Bushacre Desert Boot – $63.60 ($79.95)
Not a bad price for a well loved basic. Five different shades to pick from, plus they should also ship free since they’re north of $35.
Steal Alert: Allen Edmonds 5th Ave. oxfords for $199. Leather or Dainite sole. 1st quality,…
