Brooks Brothers 25% off Friends & Family – Picks for Men

Brooks Brothers: 25% off w/ FRIENDS

So yes, this F&F sale already got a mention last Thursday in the handful. But Brooks Brothers is not one to be short on options and inventory. They carry a lot of product. So some extra digging seemed worthwhile, as did a post dedicated to their F&F sale. Code is good for 25% off with few restrictions. Picks below, as always, are limited to those with a decent size selection at post time. Both the regular and sale sections have been combed over for this one. Remember, this is Brooks Brothers. So even with 25% off, most of these picks are pretty spendy. Off we go.

Filson Original Twill Briefcase in Tan, Navy, or Black – $186 – $198.75

A Brooks Brothers site wide sale like this Friends and Family event is one of the few times it’s possible to snag a Filson Brief on sale. Original price for the black is $248, while the tan and navy options usually run $265. Made in the USA, and of course, built to last.

Allen Edmonds Single Monks w/ Rubber Sole – $321 ($428)

AE’s brand new single monk strap, only with a slightly different insole and a thin rubber sole for grip. Just walnut and black available on the Brooks Brothers site. Hard to find marked down, unless you go the 2nds quality route. Full review of the Warwick can be found here.

Italian Merino Wool Knit Blazer – $373.50 ($498)

Steep, even at 25% off. But the peak lapels, easy construction of a knit blazer, and that texture is awfully tempting. Y’know, if you’ve got room in the budget for an almost $400 purchase.

3 Fitz. or Milano Fit Non-Iron Dress Shirts – $171.75 ($57.25 per)

Normally $92 a piece, many guys swear by the Brooks Brothers non-iron dress shirts. And even though they killed off their multi suit buy deal before the Friends & Family sale launched, they’re still letting their 3 shirts for $229 bundle run. And the code works on that $229, putting the price per shirt down to almost Nordstrom levels. Milano = their extra slim fit, with Fitzgerald being a slim but not overly tight fit. Point collar, button down, or spread… that’s up to you. Lots of options to pick from.

Grey Windowpane Sport Coat – $247.05  ($1098.00)

Yep. You’re reading that original retail price right. Just about eleven hundred bucks. But it’s dipped down into the sale section for $329. Which is crazy enough in and of itself. The extra 25% off is extra nice. Made in Italy. 3/2 roll lapel. Side vents. Could be a major steal that could see a bit of work between now and when the snow flies, then get tons of work next season.

Allen Edmonds Medallion Cap Toes w/ Rubber Sole – $321 ($428)

Pretty much Strands. Available in a bunch of widths too. Sizes are a bit scattered in the regular brown, but there seems to be plenty of walnut and black.

Fitz. Fit BrooksCool Suit in Charcoal Stripe or Blue Check – $523.50 ($698)

The BrooksCool fabric is a blend of wool and “engineered” fibers that’s supposed to be super breathable and crease resistant. And word is, they’re not bad for the money. Down to Suitsupply-like levels, but know that these claim to have a full canvas, not just a half canvas. Grey charcoal stripe or a blue check are the only two options available at post time. Center vent and flat front pant on both.

Burgundy Made in the USA Chukkas – $298.50 ($398)

Slim rubber tread on the soles too for grip. Boy those look just like the new Dundee 2.0 from Allen Edmonds. And they very well could be (almost certainly?) are. Yet Allen Edmonds doesn’t offer that shade of leather for their Dundee. And if you want a v-tread tap sole through AE, that’ll run you an extra $40. So all in all, not a bad price when you figure in those factors.

Lambswool Quilted Jacket – $298.50 ($398)

Another major splurge, but… there’s a lot of those in this round up. Made from lambswool, with Italian Flannel front panels. The quilting and the buttons and that stand up collar make for one outstanding looking casual jacket. And it better be, for that asking price.

Suede Made in the USA Boots – $426 ($568)

Goodness, those are something. Probably made by Alden, and looks like a dead ringer for the suede boots Alden used to make for J. Crew a year or two back. Crepe sole.

Pendleton Plaid D-Ring Belt – $26.50 ($110)

On clearance from last year’s collection, but still plenty of sizes left. Made in the USA Pendleton wool with leather accents and a brassy D-ring buckle. It’s a fall-ified version of the well loved and often used casual summer belt.

Filson Navy Tin Cloth Brief – $298.50 ($398)

That’s quite an upcharge for the extra water-resistant tin-cloth fabric. Does have a bit of a different look to it too, thanks to that finish. Brooks Brothers Madras pattern on the interior since it’s an exclusive to Brooks Brothers.

Fitzgerald Fit Washed Lambswool Sportcoat – $336 ($448)

So here’s the issue that many of you will often take with Brooks Brothers stuff… It can be cheaper to find similar items through someone else. For example, while this sportcoat is almost surely going to be higher quality and is in fact all lambswool, the J. Crew Factory option seems pretty close. And it’s so much cheaper. BUT… quality and the Fitzgerald fit is a priority for some. Also available in olive. No elbow patches on these jackets.

Allen Edmons for Brooks Brothers Cap-Toes – $275 ($368)

Pretty much the Park Ave. Only here, you get a “free” rubber sole with some tread (while still remaining slim) and the 25% still comes off with the FRIENDS code. Conservative for sure, but timeless.

Filson Medium Duffel in Navy or Tan – $258.75 ($345)

The last duffel you’ll be buying for a while. Made in the USA. 25″ x 14″ x 13″ = 4550 cubic inches of space. That’s plenty and then some for most. Bridle leather accents.

Kiel James Patrick Made in the USA Belt – $44.25 ($88)

Certainly a more warm-weather appropriate belt. And hyper preppy. But made in the USA, high quality, and cleverly incorporates the Brooks Brothers #1 stripe into its wool / silk combo. Already on sale.

Red Wing 9016 Cigar Featherstone – $262.50 ($350)

Amazon often has Red Wings on a bit of a sale, but you’ll have to wait around for a 20% off code to get them down into the mid $200s. Beautiful boots that look even better once you beat them up. Made in the USA of course. Goodyear welt too.

Milano Brushed Cotton Trousers – $81 ($108)

Their Milano fit is their slimmest fit, and while things can run a bit larger and boxier at Brooks Brothers, many might find the Milano to be a little too tight. But, if you’re on the super lean and mean side, then they might be the right fit. Flat front and uncuffed. Also available in the straight-fit “Clark” option.

Supima Cotton Marled Cable Shawl Collar – $74.25 ($198)

Already marked down to 50% off, with an additional 25% coming off with the code. Has the potential to be an around-the-house, extra layer favorite.

Regent Fit Striped Dress Shirt or Gingham Button Down – $44.25 ($92)

Not a bad way to dip your toes in the Brooks Brothers dress shirt waters if you haven’t before. It’s oddly difficult to find light grey striped shirts out there, and they tend to easily go with just about anything. Meanwhile, the green gingham check should look more than fine under grey and navy sportcoats. Dug these out of the depths of the sale section. Good size selection on each at post time. Both claim to be non-iron.

Brooks Bros. Clubmaster, Navigator, Rect. Sunglasses – $73.50 ($98)

Most (all?) Brooks Brothers brand sunglasses are made in China, and while the quality isn’t mind blowing, they’re sturdy enough for the style that they bring. Nice striped accents and decently placed branding. And hits that sweet spot of not luxury designer shades, yet not gas station beaters either.

The… not a lot of sizes left but still worth a mention?

Just 40R and/or 42R left at post time. But… not a bad price if that’s your size. Obviously in the sale section, and the extra 25% off helps a lot. For more on the Fitzgerald fit, head here.

Fitzgerald Fit Corduroy Tuxedo – $598.50 ($798)

Aww yeaaaahhh. Look, it’s six hundred bucks for a non-traditional tuxedo. Which means it doesn’t belong on this site. But it’s a red carpet look that’d get applause at some kind of alternative-black-tie invite event.

The 25% off Brooks Brothers code FRIENDS expires today, Monday 9/21/15.
