25EXTRA = 25% off all sale items at East Dane
East Dane is powered by the Amazon.com machine. It’s a highly-curated, very fashion-y website that’s a partnership between Amazon and Shopbop. Full honesty: it can lean more than a little weird, and a lot expensive (see the end of this post). But they do carry some down to earth stuff as well, and if it’s in the sale section, it’s now an extra 25% off.
Do keep an eye out for final sale items. There are some of those lurking about, but it should clearly say if it’s final sale or not on the item’s page. If you’ve got Amazon Prime? Great. You get free 2-day shipping. If you don’t, you get free 3-day shipping. Returns are easy too. All picks below had at least a decent size selection at post time. Remember, East Dane isn’t Kohl’s, so prices and styles can get hairy quick.
Fratelli Rossetti Cap Toe Derby in Black or “Castagna” – $245.25 ($545)
WARNING: These shoes are sized in UK Sizes, so take a look at their conversion chart under “size + fit.” Kinda like an Allen Edmonds 5th Ave., only a blucher instead of an oxford, and slimmer in profile. Made in Italy. Kinda odd that the brown comes with a rubber sole with some traction, while the black shoes come with a smooth leather sole. Some prefer one over the other, while others feel the exact opposite. Was going for over half a grand at retail.
Apolis Made in the USA Wax Jacket – $121.52 ($248)
A basic, waxed cotton jacket that was modeled after a French workwear jacket from the 1940s. Made in the USA. Far from cheap, even with the code, but maybe a good investment piece for those that spend more time in shorter, casual jackets during the transitional periods.
Grenson “Sharp” Cap Brogue Boots – $165 ($440)
The UK brand ‘Grenson’s’ take on the wingtip boot. Made in India and Goodyear welted. Another shoe that’s listed in UK sizes, and their size/fit tab suggests you order down a full size (so, if you normally wear a 10.5 in U.S. shoes, you’d order a 9.5) A less expensive version, with the sale, compared to the Allen Edmonds Dalton (which, is also on sale at Nordstrom). Doesn’t appear to be final sale yet either, so you can return em’ using that pre-paid shipping label that comes in every East Dane, non-final-sale package.
Grenson Stanley Oxfords – $182.25 ($405)
Less Leather! More dollars? The hell? But still not a bad deal if you’re looking for an oxford wingtip. Goodyear welted, made in India, and also listed in UK sizes. These don’t look all that sleek, so wearing them with a suit might be tough. A casual summer suit? Sure. But a business ready worsted wool might be a tough job. Jeans and a sportcoat seem to be the wheelhouse for these things.
Billy Reid “Carter” Jacket – $208.50 ($695)
Another pricey basic. Made in Italy. Probably looks much better than the GAP’s cheap version from last season… but how much better? Seven hundred bucks retail is steep. Doesn’t look like it’ll offer much protection, if any, to sportcoat/blazer/suit jacket tails at that length either.
SeaVees Pan Am Sneakers – $39.60 | Hermosa Plimsolls – $35.10
Did you wreck your favorite summer sneakers by way of spillage (thanks Malbec) or sweat? There’s still a lot of summer left. And both of these are made from lightweight canvas, have the classic SeaVees patch on the outer heel, and come in under forty bucks after you use the code. Pan Ams were going for $88, while the Plimsolls retail for $78. Sizes are scattered on each at post time.
Jack Spade Matte Leather Travel Case – $224.25 ($598)
Retro in both looks and… size. 12.5″ x 18″ x 5.5″. That’s only 1237 cubic inches of space. That’s not even weekender size. That’s an… overnighter? If you pack light? Or it’s the worlds most expensive lunch box? Still, points for the blue suede exterior and silver hardware.
Rag & Bone Officer Made in the USA Boots – $168.75 ($450)
Not shy. Not one bit. Not a bad price for a pair of Made in the USA monsters like these. Description says full-grain. Welted to a Soletech rubber sole that’s got some grip but nothing overly chunky. Does have some burnishing at the toe & heel.
7 For All Mankind Slimmy Cashmere Blend Denim Jeans – $102.60 ($228)
For the denim heads. Not for those of us who are just fine with a $39.99 pair of Levi’s. 5% cashmere + 2% spandex is mixed in with 93% cotton to create a flexible jean. Made in the USA. Sizes are down to the smaller waist sizes at post time.
75 Years of Marvel Comics – $75.00 ($200)
An inside look at the Marvel Universe to celebrate their 75th anniversary. “Nearly 2,000 images, one-of-a-kind original art, behind-the-scenes photographs and film stills, as well as rare toys and collectibles.” A beast of a coffee table book for the comic book aficionado in your life.
And now, a trio of items that proves I will never understand “fashion”
- Bedwin and the Heartbreakers Fulton Wader Overalls – $152.25 ($290)
- P.A.M. Stretch Rose T-Shirt – $62.47 ($119)
- KENZO Dots & Logo Shirt – $103.50 ($345) MATCHING PANTS AVAILABLE!
Yes, East Dane is Amazon’s high-fashion site. But… some of these might even make Russel Westbrook say: “Oh… That’s messed up.“
The Extra 25% off Sale Items at East Dane promo expires tomorrow, 7/22/15.
