Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below, plus bonus sales if need be. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
J. Crew: 30% off Sale Items w/ SPRINGSALE
The Pick: Ludlow Traveler Suit Jacket & Slim Pant – $462 ($660)
No, 30% off sale items isn’t the biggest discount in the world… but it is the first time in recent memory that an all-season wool suit has gotten the cut. Terrific, versatile shade of medium grey. Made in their “Traveler” wool, which is high twist and supposed to resist creasing and wrinkling. Half-canvas, soft shoulders, lowered button stance. All the stuff you’ve come to expect from a Ludlow. Only the slim pant is available, on sale, at post time. Meanwhile, they’ve also launched another 25% off a small selection of items event. All the goods up for the discount can be found here.
Overstock: They’ve got Timex Weekender Chronos?
- Timex Chrono Weekender Blue Dial / Tan Leather – $52.99
- Timex Chrono Weekender Cream Dial / Blue Nylon Strap – $49.99
Had no clue these things even existed. Many thanks to Kevin G. for sending in a style tip on these. Can’t seem to find these models anywhere other than Overstock? UPDATE: They’re on the Timex site now. Many thanks to Brian F. for diggin’ em up! 40mm diameter with the standard 20mm weekender lug width. Great looking blue dial / tan leather strap on the left watch. Much more casual than the Waterbury Chronos (should have an in-person next week with those), but also half the price.
J. Crew Factory: 30% off New Arrivals + 30% off GiltCity Voucher
- Thompson Fit Slub Linen/Cotton Suit Jacket & Slim Pant – $154.70 ($221)
- Thompson Fit Unconstructed Sportcoat in Linen – $82.25 ($117.50)
- Thompson Fit Voyager Suit Jacket & Slim or Reg. Pant – $256.20 ($366)
Some tempting new warm weather arrivals just hit the JCF website, and that GiltCity voucher does, in fact, stack with their 30% off new arrivals promotion. Here’s how the GiltCity voucher works: you “RSVP” (you’ll have to create a gilt account if you don’t have one) and an hour or two later a single use code shows up in your email inbox. Put that code in the promo-code box at checkout, and you’re good. You COULD hang on to it and see if JCF runs any deeper discounts before the voucher expires (on 3/29), but remember that it can’t stack with other codes, since you can only apply one code per order. It has to be a no-code sale. Haven’t seen that slub suit yet, but that’s a hell of a deal as long as it’s not a disaster in person. Perfect cool shade of grey too. Just slim pants though. No regular. Not good news for those of us with thunder thighs. Thanks to Sean and Seamus for the tips on the GiltCity voucher.
B.R.: Half-Off Select Full Priced Styles | 50% off Sale items w/ BRSPRING
- Joshua Double Monk Strap – $64.00 ($128)
- Owen Suede Blucher – $74.00 ($148)
- Slim Fit Non-Iron French Cuff Royal Oxford in White or Blue – $39.50 ($79.50)
- Textured Shawl-Collar Pullover – $44.99 ($98.95)
- Heritage Moleskin Peacoat – $132.49 ( $275)
Confused? Totally understood. There are two separate promotions going on right now: There’s a batch of full priced goods getting a half-off, no-code needed discount, and then there’s the code BRSPRING that knocks an ADDITIONAL 50% off items that have already been marked down. Big thanks to Howard and Jim for the style tips on this one.
UNIQLO: New Arrivals + $15 off $125 w/ SPRING15
That jacket. Hand it over. Appears to be unlined (at least in the back) and a dash of black-watch-like plaid on a warm-weather friendly fabric never hurt anyone. Meanwhile, they’ve got a new option for the button down collar polos: micro-check (thanks to Michael G. for the heads up on those). Three color options there. UNIQLO is also still running that $15 off $125+ code SPRING15.
BONUS Target’s New Navy Cotton Blazer has Arrived
The (Obvious) Pick: Merona Navy Twill Half-Lined Blazer – $39.99
Bam. And there it is. And it’s really, really inexpensive. Going to dig one up this weekend. Meanwhile, they’re running a spend $75+ get 20% off, spend $100 get 30% off on select men’s and women’s clothing.
BONUS II Nordstrom: Smart Turnout London Belts on Sale
- Maroon / White Belt – $65.40 ($109)
- Navy / White Belt – $65.40 ($109)
- Navy / Sky Blue / Blue Belt – $65.40 ($109)
- Navy / Red / Green Belt – $71.40 ($119)
This is a little random, considering there are many of us who wouldn’t spend a ton of money on a belt, but for those that would and like the summer-striped look, it’s hard to beat the quality for the price on these. Made in the UK. Solid brass buckle, leather accents, and a wool/poly mix for the stripes. Ships and returns free since it’s Nordstrom. More info on the Smart Turnout site here.
BONUS III Christopher Ward: Spring Clearance
- C10 Aviator MK1 Automatic – $413 ($590)
- C11 MSL MK1 Automatic – $345 ($690)
- C11 Makaira Pro 500 – $375 ($750)
Christopher Ward has launched an early Spring Clearance preview, and is offering some of their sportier models for up to half off. Probably one of the better discounts C. Ward has offerend in awhile, especially if you’re looking for a casual watch that’s a little different. Hard not to like the C11 MSL MK1, with it’s case and dial ripped straight from an airplane’s instrument panel. Full reviews of the C10 Aviator and C11 Makaira pro diver can be found here and here.
