It is a lot of money, especially if you spend it right. Ten picks follow, all for $75 or under, and some of them are much, much less.

B.R. Tailored Slim-Fit Flannel Pant – $72 w/ CHEER ($120)

98% wool / 2% spandex flannel trousers that never seem to be excluded from the often-used 40% off codes that BR runs. Hat tip to reader Harrison B. for sending in the style tip on these, and for reporting that while their shirts in the “tailored slim” are awfully tight, these “tailored slim-fit” pants don’t cling if you’re a guy with larger than average thighs. If you’ve got enormous thighs? All bets are off. But if you’ve got some muscle there, might be worth a shot. Has dipped to as low as $60 before (they’ll go “on sale” and then codes can drop them further). Woodlore LONG Cedar Shoe Horn – $12.00

To all the young bucks out there laughing at the idea of an extra long shoe-horn that saves someone from having to get down on one knee to get into their kicks… Listen. You get north of 30 yrs old. You run 8 miles in 20 degrees. You come home, take a hot shower, and put on a suit and then look long and hard at those monk straps and tell me that a few extra inches wouldn’t be helpful (obligatory). That, and it smells good. H&M Burgundy Corduroy Blazer – $59.99 (in store only?)

This has either come and gone on the web already, or, it’s a new arrival that hit brick & mortar stores first (pants are online? Maybe? Looked less purple, and more red, in person). Corduroy blazer, slim fit, and in the burgundy/wine color that UNIQLO failed to make their version in this year. That’s a size medium on 5’10”, 180. So, might want to size up. It’s H&M, so, expect the tails on these things to be quite short. Other than that, excellent for the price, and will look dynamite at whatever holiday parties you’re headed to, or hosting, this year.

The kind of sweater where your girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse says “you look cozy!”… then throws their arms around you and doesn’t want to let go. That’s a lot of looks for under forty bucks. A warning though: This appears to have a similar sounding movement to their weekender series. Meaning, the audible “tick” is louder than many will expect. But for forty dollars… c’mon. And for plenty (perhaps those that have gone to too many loud concerts) the tick won’t be a concern.
