If you’re on the Brooks Brothers email list, you’ve probably got some very general sounding “shop clearance now” type of emails over the last few days. And they’re pretty easy to ignore. Bounce over to the BB site through the email and on the first of 42 pages of clearance you see the likes of…
Right. Not real inspiring.
BUT… if you didn’t head for the internet hills on first glance of that page, you might have found some surprisingly good gems amongst this batch of clearance goods. Oddly low prices, even for clearance, on a few items as well. But, since it is a clearance, sizes can be a bit scattered and stock can move quick. Bit of a hodgepodge in terms of styles too. Let’s get after it.
The polo outside the lapel look isn’t the best, nor is it red pants season… BUT, a half-canvas cotton/linen sportcoat in the timeless yet not frumpy fitzgerald fit, for the low $200s, is pretty decent. 3/8 lined too, so it’ll breathe. Wear that blue one with jeans for the time being.
Whoa. Fine, yes, not nearly as versatile as the solid blue blazer above, but cut from a cotton/wool/silk blend from Italy’s Lanificio di Pray Mill, half canvas, and once again a Fitzgerald fit. Pattern doesn’t seem to loud either.
Nice shade. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re a muted grey, but pretty sure these will do fine between now and when the snow starts flying (and even in the dead of winter when worn around your place). Should look good with jeans and a lambswool sweater on your down time. Speaking of boats…
Grow beard. Wait for 42 degrees and rain. Put on sweater. Stand outside angrily shouting sea shanties while shaking fist at clouds with one hand, and gripping a bottle of rum with the other. All annoying neighbors will leave you alone for the rest of time. Firing cannon from rooftop at 8am and 6pm optional.
Nice play with the contrasting color on the interior. Six different color combinations to choose from, including some extra bright options for those of you looking to inject some can’t-miss color.
Not the first time these ugly ducklings have appeared on this site. Will cause some to recoil, yet, when paired with white (or off-white) pants and a blue cotton blazer in the summer, they look awfully Italian-Gent. That and they can pull extra duty in the fall with jeans and perhaps even a velvet blazer.
Plain front, unfinished hem dress trousers made from Barberis wool. Lighter weight so not going to cut (cut, not “Break”) the wind like flannel would on colder days, but good for warmer fall days or if you just run a bit warmer than most.
Yes you can wear these year round. Especially the navy option. Shipping is $5.95 for just the belt, so you might want to keep on Jomers, and hope they bring back their made in the USA Macrame belts.
Just sizes 11 and 11.5 left, but if that’s you, and you want/need some boots… lucky you. Made in Mexico. Been around for while on the Brooks Brothers site, and pretty sure this is the lowest they’ve gone for.
Lotta old-school prep going on here with those saturated shades of red, navy, and gold. Looks like they were pulled straight from the patch on some private school blazer.
And if we’ve learned nothing… we’ve learned that if it’s not Scottish, it’s crap. A little forward in terms of colors, so much so that they might make for a nice, just for the hell of it no reason really ya sweet lass gift for the lady in your life. Lambswool though. Not cashmere. Expect a bit of itchiness then.
Manufactured by Loake in England (thanks Bruschetta), the clearance price on these puts them about where they should be. But, you’re not dealing with international shipping. Scattered sizes, at best here. Not much left in terms of smaller sizes.
UPDATE: Turns out these aren’t made by Loake, but instead by Alfred Sargent. Many thanks to the guys on threads for passing along that style forum link!
The Huck team is off on vacation. Which means their big winter clearance is very…
Brooks Brothers starts their winter clearance with an additional 25% off sale items.
Plus a Christmas album you probably haven't heard yet this year. Maybe.
With a focus on holiday events. It's their last sale before their shipping cutoff.
