FF25 = 25% off at Brooks Brothers (exp. today, 9/22)
In case you missed the quick, Friday update over on the handful, Brooks Brothers is running their most recent 25% off Friends & Family code, FF25, through today 9/22/14.
Yes, even with 25% knocked off, Brooks Brothers is steep for a lot of us. And those shipping costs. Yikes. But that’s why a bunch of the picks below have been scoured up from the extensive clearance section, where items are already on sale and the extra 25% off does some nice damage (in our favor). Hat tip to Brooks Brothers for having this code apply to just about everything. Even most 3rd party stuff. No long list of exclusions = extra appreciated from us on this end.
Levi’s® 501 Made in the USA for Brooks Brothers – $66.60 ($148)
Already on sale, and lots of sizes left. Nope, not the cheapest you can find 501s for, but they’re made in the USA. So you’re getting an American Classic, that’s actually made here in the states. Not bad for sixty-six-sixty.
Filson Medium Duffel – $243.74 ($325)
Big on quality… and interior space. Not some shrinking violet of a weekender like other, cheaper brands. 25″ x 14″ x 13″ = 4550 cubic inches of space that should have you covered for a long weekend. Made in the USA. Dynamite looks.
Peal & Co.® Chukka Boots in Brown or Light Brown – $277.20 ($528)
Basically the Loake Kempton Chukka (with one less pair of eyelets?). If you don’t want to go through a UK based retailer, then this mid to high $200s price point through Brooks Brothers isn’t half bad. Goodyear welted. Substantial suede. Dainite rubber sole. Full review over here. Available in brown or light brown. Already on sale.
Grey Cotton Herringbone Chinos – $67.12 ($88.90)
Awfully comfy looking, without being sweatpants. Or “joggers.” Sorry. Joggers. Whatever. Herringbone pattern. Super light grey will help pull a wardrobe out of the dark and dull doldrums of fall/winter habits, but they’re still not summery. From the younger leaning and trimmer fitting “Red Fleece” collection.
Solid Textured Tie: $50.68 / per (if you buy two, normally $79.50)
Here’s how this works: It’s a multiple buy discount, so grab two, take 30% off the second, and then knock 25% off with the FF25 code. Yes, fifty bucks for a tie is steep (especially compared to TheTieBar prices). But when it comes to a basic, workhorse tie like these textured, Italian Silk, Made in the USA, timeless 3.25″ wide ties, some will invest a bit more. They feel different, tie different, and last longer.
Shetland Crewneck Sweater – $73.50 ($98)
Pretty expensive, but unlike many alternatives (like Woolovers), this should come in a trimmer fit since it’s by Red Fleece. Five shades to pick from. Casual/sporty raglan sleeves. Know that there is a tonal Brooks Brothers logo on the left chest.
Ribbon belts in Green/Navy/Purple or Multi-Stripe – $21.60 ($48)
You just have to wait on Brooks Brothers ribbon belts. They’re awfully nice in person… good quality, nice color, hold their grip throughout the day… but fifty bucks for a ribbon belt is a little out there. Twenty-ish is more like it, thanks to their clearance pricing and the extra 25% off. Lots of spring & summer color combos in that clearance section, but more than a couple should be wearable for the coming months.
Fitzgerald Fit Tic with Windowpane Sport Coat – $373.50 ($498)
Good grief that’s a lot of cash for a cotton sportcoat. But, there is a defense for the Fitzgerald fit and the quality you get with a Brooks Brothers jacket. Italian cotton, blue windowpane plays well with the grey. Half-canvas construction.
Perforated Cap Toes, Medallion Perforated Captoes, or Wingtips – $276 ($368)
Made by Allen Edmonds for Brooks Brothers, and basically their classics with a few tweaks. One of those tweaks is a poron cushion footbed (some will like it, some won’t), and another is that these shoes come standard with rubber/leather combo soles. That’ll save you $50 some odd bucks alone, since AE charges extra on most of their shoes for that extra grip. Terrific looking shade of burgundy on the wingtips.
Fitzgerald Fit Irish Linen Suit – $523.40 ($698)
It’s expensive. It’s out of season. It’s… still very much awesome. The argument, over here.
Flannel Chinos – $67.12 ($89.50)
From the younger & slimmer leaning “red fleece” collection. Not a bad price for a pair of slim fit flannel pants, in a versatile but not boring shade of blue.
Goodyear Welted Moc-Boots – $156.45 ($298)
On clearance, and extremely limited sizes left. Just 11, 11.5, and 12 at post time. But goodness, they’re like Red Wings that’ve had a shower, shave, and have gone on a diet. Nice and fast looking, yet unmistakably boots. If memory serves, these are made in Mexico?
Filson Twill Padded Computer Bag – $268.50 ($358)
A bit more room than the original brief (also available for the discount, but only in brown). Two way brass zipper, terrific leather trim, lots of compartments, and made in the USA.
Suede Kiltie Tassel Loafers – $156.45 ($298)
Ugly as sin, or… kinda genius? Perfect as a dressed-up summer shoe (think lightweight off-white chinos, open collar white dress shirt, and a blue cotton blazer), but could also pull some nice house holiday-party duty too. Think dark wash jeans, a velvet blazer, and one of the three color options. A bit of a reach (okay, a huge leap for some), but extra nicely priced now that they’re on sale as well as getting the discount. Made in Italy.
Fitzgerald Fit Summer Blackwatch Sport Coat – $201.60 ($448)
Limited sizes left since it’s from the expiring season. 38R and 41R (and some other longs) available at post time. Summer might be over, but this should still be able to do some work between now and when the snow flies. Italian cotton/silk blend. 3/8 lined (bonus!) Mother of pearl buttons. Now more than half off with the clearance price & extra 25% off.
Cream Seersucker Dinner Jacket – $179.10 ($398)
Oh like you wouldn’t wear it… Old Sport? (That said, the button stance seems really high.)
The 25% off Brooks Brothers Friends & Family code FF25 expires today, 9/21/2014.
Wish I was a better out-of-season shopper. If I was smart, I’d pick up a few of those ribbon belts.
I was planning on picking-up some extra slim fit OCBD’s or other dress shirt for work from BB – will this code work in store and on any of those shirts?
The AE Manistee (perforated) belt can be had for under $100 too thanks to the sale. Thinking about it.
God damn it that plaid blazer is amazing. Setting a page refresh monitor and hoping a 36S pops up.
joggers…
I just received a one time 40% off ANY item coupon in the mail from Brooks Brothers which is odd considering I have only bought 3 items from them in my lifetime…having trouble deciding what to spend it on? Maybe the camel hair sport coat haha.
FYI, Amex is giving card members a free membership to Shoprunner, which allows you to get free 2 day shipping at places like Brooks Brothers and Cole Haan.
OMFG, this. This is what I’ve been searching for.
thanks, disqus, for logging me as a guest.
Does the corporate discount stack with this F&F discount? I tried purchasing online and it didn’t appear to stack…does anybody know if it’s different in stores?
And jeeez, these guys really need to start doing free shipping on orders over $150, or something.
Actually just had a chance to try this online, seems to work on the 3 shirts for $229 or whatever.
Does this code work in stores?
Honest question. Why would someone buy the ties featured above vs one from tiebar? Again, I’m genuinely curious, not asking a leading questions or trying to have a go.
The perforated cap toes are of bad quality picked some up either last year or two years ago and the actual leather peels off and is turning gray. The sale is good for other things though.
Sure thing. TheTieBar really is terrific, but some of their ties can feel a little less than substantial. More expensive ties (but not all) can feel better in your hands, drape a bit better, and even tie easier (less wrinkling, easier dimple, etc). Most of my ties are from thetiebar, but I do honestly prefer the couple of more expensive Italian or USA made ties in my collection.
That said, plenty aren’t going to feel or see enough of a difference. Totally get that.
DAMN Joe….those grey loafers again…..BB really trying to get those in my home..
Pretty sure it does. But expires at closing today.
I know where I’ll be headed after work, then.
“Setting a page refresh monitor…”
Can you share how one would do this?
Loving those leather boots. Wish I would’ve seen ’em before I pulled the trigger on the Wolverine 1000 milers
got the same today. 40% off one item through Oct 6, one each for the men’s and women’s sections.
So I was trying to figure out why the Levi’s 501’s were going for $150, whether perhaps they were from the LVC line, the made and crafted, or maybe even selvedge. So I took a look at the link, is it just me, or is the inside seam photoshopped out in the profile pic? Something fishy is going on here…
Those moc toe boots…DAMN
I have gotten them in the past too … I shopped there a lot for work clothes (always during the semi annual sales). They don’t seem to give a reason for why you would or wouldn’t get one, but i’s a great promo. If you have the company credit card and a nice accumulation of there rewards cards, you can get a suit or blazer for under $100.
They are indeed AS – the 87D last is labeled inside – and yes, they are fantastic!
Dunno about that particular pic, but my pair have the typical Levi’s pointed-arches (or whatever) back-pockets stitching in indigo thread, so as to basically be quite stealthy on the backdrop of the dark denim. They’re there, but they don’t stand out per usual as “Hey, I’m a pair of Levi’s!” Nothing major, but kind of a cool detail, IMO.
Regardless, they’re that price because… ‘MURICA!
