“The revolution is here.” – J. Crew
And who would have guessed, ever, that “the revolution” would look like something you’d wear while making out with a carton of Ben & Jerry’s in front of Family Feud?
Wool sweats. That’s what these essentially are. The fabric is a wool/nylon/poly blend that J. Crew says is “the same fabric as your finest dress pant.” So, less people-of-walmart thick cotton sweats, and more like something Vince Lombardi would have worn to training camp back in the day? Maybe? Coach?
Okay. Maybe not. Time for more wind sprints.
Is this Normcore? What the hell is Normcore anyway? Does Normcore even really exist? Sweats seem to have been showing up as odd-alternatives to jeans in some recent catalog shots (not just J. Crew). Is this J. Crew’s attempt to dress that look up?
Are these just the super-relaxed end of the “upscale” rugged thing? Is this what you wear around the house on a lazy Saturday afternoon before you head out in selvedge jeans and expensive workboots you’ll never do any actual work in? They do look kinda, uh… cozy?
Your mission… if you choose to accept it…
1. Would you wear them? Forget the price right now. It’s up there, and you gotta think that these are weird enough that they’ll head to the sale section (much like their “short-suits” from the summer).
2. Assess. If you can. Because there’s more than a few of us who are confused.
Good luck. Leave it all in the comments section below…
