J. Crew will run one of these extra 30% off sale items codes every couple weeks, and it’s a great time for those of us on a J. Crew Factory budget to jump up and snag something from the top line. The codes usually run for about a week, with the sale section sometimes getting replenished with new items a few days before the code expires. Watch out for final sale items since you can’t return those. Picks are limited to items with at least a decent size selection at post time. But things can go quick.
Good Gravy. Now, it’s only that cheap because we are in fact in “gravy season” (as opposed to mint julep season), but still. Look, it’ll hang out in a closet for a while, but plenty of guys are already in full on summer wedding-prep mode. An extra 50% off with the code instead of 30%. Along with their upping the frequency of these 30% off codes, the 50% off end of season blowouts seem to be a new strategy for J. Crew. Great size selection at post time available for the “wheat” shown above for the single vent jacket and the pants. Other shades are picked over. Double vent jackets in wheat have less sizes to choose from. The slimmer fit pant option is available, but sizes are more scattered than the classic fit.
A cardigan without any of the Mr. Rogers feel. Cut from their awfully soft cotton/poly sweatshirt-style fleece, this thing looks like it really nails the color + marled look. Elbow patches. Not cheap at seventy bucks, but could be a favorite for years to come.
All hail the plain-brown laceup, but extra bowing down + we’re-not-worthy-ness goes to these shoes in the reddish-hued burgundy chromexcel from Horween. Goodyear welt. Made in the USA.
Like someone took the MacAlister, gave it a good shower and shave, and threw a coat and tie on it. Meaning: Much more dressed up than a relaxed desert boot. These have more structure and a smooth sole. Same last as their Kenton bucks. Goodyear welt on these. Leather sole. Also available in navy.
J. Crew’s cotton cashmere blend is usually a step above other brands. They seem to inject more cashmere into the fabric, leaving it much softer than other options. Just wish this came in the slimmer cut.
Wallace & Barnes is made by J. Crew, but it’s supposed to be an upgraded, higher quality, more rugged line. … Right. Anyway, this barn jacket keeps up the color blocking thing but it doesn’t look overtly fashion-forward thanks to the earth tones. They went with lighter weight cotton instead of duck canvas, so don’t expect this to be all that warm.
Not a desert, mid-ankle chukka, but instead 8 pairs of eyelets. Italian suede. Stitched welt. Made in Italy. Maybe the sneaky steal of this particular sale.
Wrapping up with how we started. A summer suit, now half off, thanks to the fact that flurries are starting to fly in some parts of the northern hemisphere. Sizes are all but sold out in the two darker options (navy and charcoal) but there’s a surprisingly strong selection of sizes left for the “stone” shade.
Their sale section is pretty picked over right now, but the code LOVEFALL is good through Wed. 11/6. Maybe they’ll toss a few more styles in there tomorrow or Wed.
