As a thanks to the vast majority of you who choose to not use extensions like adblock on Dappered, we’ve to started devoting 5-10% of our total ad space to showing art instead of ads. This initiative also makes the site look better, plus it gives some free exposure to a few artists each month. If you or someone you know might be a great fit for Art As Ads, send an example of work, plus a short bio, to submissions@dappered.com. Be sure to check out the Art As Ads terms and conditions before submitting. Here are this month’s artists…
A storyteller and an artist, Vincent L. Nappi III is the author and illustrator behind his graphic project The Bordello. Many of his characters happen to wear sharp suits, and thus, he’s amassed a portfolio of fashion drawings. His interests include Art, History, Women, Psychology, Suits, Strange Headwear, Foreign Places, and many other Nouns. You can follow him and The Bordello at vincentnappi.com.
Dave Rothschild’s photography layers images of nature with urban decay, creating new worlds of harmony, color and dimension. He has been a photographer for most of his life, starting at the age of 14 in his hometown of Washington DC. His work has been featured in galleries, law offices, and in homes around the nation. He currently resides in Portland, OR. You can purchase his artwork here.
Ray Vargas was born in Los Angeles and earned his BFA from the Laguna College of Art and Design in 2002. His work is characterized by a subtle injection of black humor, often used to rupture an otherwise mundane setting. In addition to participating in gallery and pop art shows, Ray works as a freelance illustrator, muralist, and also accepts private commissions. He currently lives and works in his hometown of Boyle Heights.
Dustin Groeneman is a short man and a teetotaler. His art doesn’t shy away from saturated colors, contrast, or the manipulation of focus. There are worse things a man could be than vain, but Dustin “wears his ego like an ill-fitting suit.” You can follow him on tumblr here, and, you can purchase his artwork here.
