All right, let’s get on with it. Enjoy the long weekend fellas.
Pertinent Friday updates are found below.

The Picks:
Hat tip to “Dappa” in the comments from yesterday, when he predicted the 30% code a comin’. The charcoal blazer is a double vent, in the current personal rotation, and gets lots of use. $210 seems like a steal. The navy is also available in center vent, but sizes are awfully short. The Italian Pique suit is in a summery stone, but a solid deal in the mid $200s. And, surprising to see their new Single button chino sportcoats in the sale section. Well, at least in the khaki-like “light hickory.” Cheaper, but final sale option from last season over here.
The Picks: Madras + Bar Stripe reversible belt – $24.00 ($48), Supima Striped Shawl Collar – $51.20 ($128), Colorblock Trench Coat – $139.20 ($348)
It’s an end of season clearance, so you’re going to see a lot of this lighter, airy looking/clean stuff. That belt might be the biggest winner at twenty four bucks… before shipping. Bold stripes on one side, Madras on the other.
The Picks: Varsity Tipped Cotton Sweater – $29.97 ($49.95), 5-Pocket Slim-Straight Jean in Honey – $29.97 ($49.95), AEO Leather Chukkas – $47.97 ($79.95)
Yes, American Eagle. There’s a piece or two every year that’ll be logo free that’s worth a look. Free shipping on all orders as well through Monday. So… y’know… you don’t have to step foot in the AE store in the mall (see #23).
The Picks: Holden Single Monk – $84.00 ($140), Herringbone Cotton Vest – $78.00 ($130), Vintage Straight Grey Jean – $53.70 ($89.50), Tailored slim fit gingham – $47.70 ($79.50)
This actually launched yesterday for cardholders but thanks to the exclusions they added overnight (blazers + “BR Picks”) it’s become a totally different sale. Their new plaid blazer? Doesn’t get the discount. Neither does their terrific merino wool v-necks. Hold out for a sale on those. There’s so much stuff excluded (especially thanks to the arbitrary “BR Picks” category) that it seems like half the site can’t have the code applied. Disappointing. There are a few things worth noting though. That vest (for the waistcoat-curious) doesn’t have the usual poly back. All cotton. The single monk’s a nice sleek shape and well under a hundred. And the “vintage straight” fit on those grey jeans seem to be somewhere between a 514 and a 501.
The Pick: Dalton in Walnut Factory 2nds – $199.00
They’re going to be 2nds quality, but worth a look if you’re out of range of AE’s usual price point, and aren’t too picky about scratches and dents. Hat tip to Greg H. for sending in the style tip. Head here to find the Factory Outlet closest to you.
The Picks: Thompson Sportcoat in Tweed or Herringbone – $118.50 ($198), Slim Merino V-Neck Sweater – $38.50 ($64.50), Thompson Chino Suit Jacket – $81 ($148)
The annual crop of Factory wool-blend tweed-like sportcoats have landed. These can be hit or miss. Some years the quality is outstanding. Others, like last year, some report that the fabric is less than desirable. Meanwhile, the Thompson Chino is down to a very reasonable $81. Would go great with this outfit over here. Free shipping over $100.
The picks: Made in the USA Jeans in 628 straight or 608 slim fit – $68.60 ($98), Garment Dye Rugby – $40.50 ($58)
Lands’ End has tightened up their frequency of codes, so 30% off everything (except for 3rd party merch) is a good one. More on the jeans and the difference between the 628 and 608 fit over here. The Rugby looks like a muted version of the French Terry rugby from last year. Might want to size down if you’re in between.
The Picks: Oxleys Straight Leg in Mint Green – $33.60 ($98), Jack Spade Leather Document Brief – $194.60 ($395)
Selection is all over the place on the Bonobos sale page right now, so you’re best searching by your size. One option that does have a lot of sizes available is the Bonobos oxford cloth “Oxleys” pant in mint green. These pants might be the only reason to miss summer when it finally gives way to fall. That and sundresses.
The Picks: Timex “Antiqued” Case 42mm in Black/Silver or Brown/Gold – $34.98 ($70), Transcript Tassel Loafer – $59.96 ($99.95), 1901 Carson Oxford in Grey – $66.96 ($99.95)
Don’t get too excited. This is not half-yearly part II. But, been awhile since most of us took a spin through the Nordstrom Sale Section (Anniversary Sale Fatigue?) and there are some new markdowns lurking in there. That Timex duo has been marked down further, and the Transcript Tassel Loafer is a steal at $60. A warning: don’t believe the “runs small order the next size up” note on the Nordstrom site. They don’t run small. More over here.
The Picks: Corduroy Blazer – $118.80 ($198), Contrast Shawl Collar – $41.94 ($69.90)
This is going on in-store as well, so if you don’t want to pop for the awfully steep shipping ($8.00), then there’s your option. Free shipping kicks in at $125.
Also worth a mention: Kenneth Cole J. Crew is doing 25% off all denim, but that ends today. You have to think they’ll launch some other promo tomorrow. (Update: Yep.)
Plus a Christmas album you probably haven't heard yet this year. Maybe.
With a focus on holiday events. It's their last sale before their shipping cutoff.
Style choices to make for those times when how you're perceived is critical.
Timex grows into a solid, grown-up dive watch design.
J. Crew additional 10% off their 50% - 60% off stuff. Not-final-sale peacoats under $180.…
$17 ocbds. $4.80 tees. Cords under $20.
