Sales that deserve some attention when heading into the weekend. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up the Friday Handful. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
.
The Picks: Bar III Navy Peak Lapel – $217.49 ($595) | DKNY Charcoal Plaid – $277.49 ($650)
The retail price on the fused suits Macy’s carries is always astronomically high, but the quiet code AUGUST takes an extra 25% off these two already on sale suits. That drops both to price levels that are extremely low for these two particular models.. The Bar III is as low as it’s ever been, and it’s now more than $100 off when it made the top 4 for affordable navy suits. Mini review over on that post. Haven’t seen the DKNY in person, but DKNY suits tend to be a step up in quality from Alfani RED/Hilfiger trim fit. Plus that plaid looks like it could be highly handsome in person. Code works on most men’s purchases $100 and up. Try VIP20 for 20% off under $100. Exp. 8/12.
The Picks: : BREED Gunnar Watch – $69.99 ($295)
Breed? That was a Nirvana song right? It’s also apparently a watch company. They’ve got some odd designs to say the least, they occasionally use the bearded J. Crew model in some of their shots, and their Gunnar line is a surprisingly strong feeling, flight-dial inspired square/cushion case powered by Swiss quartz. I was more than pleasantly surprised when this came out of the box. There’s some good weight to it and it looks much better in person. The strap is outstanding. Thick, but flexible. A warning: It’s big. 44mm without the crown. Also know the one I received (which I’m wearing now as I type) has a few dings to the paint on the inside of the case. There’s usually a reason merchandise ends up on these flash sale sites…
The Pick: Cotton/Nylon Trench – $82.60
Haven’t caught this in person yet. But if they’ve been following big brother Banana Republic’s lead, then there’s real potential here. 60% cotton and 40% nylon will keep the water from soaking in, but it still should feel more like cotton than poly. Ships free of course. Code expires 8/12.
Remember in the glory days of Gilt when everything would sell out within the first 5 minutes? Okay, maybe GILT is still like that, but Frank & Oak fans are just as rabid and quick to the deal. Shipping is free if you’re part of the “hunt club” ($45 pre authorized purchase each month unless you opt out by the 5th… it’s a bit sketchy) or $6.00 fixed. More on Frank & Oak from Sabir at MensStylePro over here.
The Picks: Aimon Seersucker Jacket – $99.00 ($329) & Trouser – $99.00 ($149.50)
Featured in Esquire not too long ago, this is one of those suits that the pieces can easily be split up and worn on their own. Slate grey seersucker that’ll keep you cool but won’t look all southern dandied out. Lots of jacket sizes left for now, but the pants have gone fast. Also worth a look from the sale section: The Mortimer sportcoat for $79, the Bailey Viscose/Linen/Cotton V for $29, and this wide shawl collar cardigan for $29. Sizes will probably move fast on these. Free Economy shipping “for a limited time.” (warning: it defaults to the $5 option.)
Also worth noting: Lands’ End is doing 25% off everything plus free shipping with RMN25FS and 8913 (hat tip to Samuel in the comments) previous code gets you 25% off and free shipping at $50 w/ PETUNIA and pin 2930 (exp 8/13). Express is doing a buy one get one 50% off everything plus $25 off $50 and $50 off $125 with 1706.
The Huck team is off on vacation. Which means their big winter clearance is very…
Brooks Brothers starts their winter clearance with an additional 25% off sale items.
Plus a Christmas album you probably haven't heard yet this year. Maybe.
With a focus on holiday events. It's their last sale before their shipping cutoff.
