Macy’s One Day Sale
Picks – May 11 – 12, 2012
As always, it’s incredibly tough to peg when Macy’s will launch a One Day Sale. Sometimes a month and a half will go by between them, sometimes only a few weeks will pass. One thing is certain: These are usually sales worth paying attention to. The one-day sale prices are some of the best mark downs in the retail industry. Here’s some of the best from the One-Day-Sale which runs Fri. May 11- Sat. May 12. Items marked with a * are “Web Busters.” In store prices may or may not match up. Selection on all items (especially shoes) in store can vary greatly.

Tommy Hilfiger Seersucker Suit Separates – $224.98* ($550)

And our annual summer suit search is on. Haven’t seen this in person, but one is on the way. The “retail” price of $550 is inflated, but the low $200s is a solid deal. Would have been nice to seen it dip under $200 since these are cotton instead of wool, but not to sound like a broken record… prices are up everywhere. Here’s to hoping the shoulder pads aren’t too substantial. Seersucker is one of the only options if you’re stuck in extreme conditions, and this suit might be one of your best bets if you don’t want to shell out more than $250.
Michael Kors Linen Blend Blazer – $99.99* ($250)

Attention fellas who are of the smaller stature. Y’know how hardly anyone makes size 36 jackets? These come in 36R and even a 36S. For the rest of us, they come in all the normal sizes too. They ship free, barely, and they return free in store. Might be worth the time?
Hilfiger Striped Belt – $26.99* ($45)

Basic belt, basic stripe, basic price. Also available in a khaki with a blue stripe. Adds a bit of personality without completely going over the top. Careful with stacking this and other bright pieces. You could look colorblind fast.
Michael Kors Blue Check Dress Shirt – $29.75* ($59.50)

Gotta love simplicity. There are far too many dress shirts out there that use way too many colors, thickness of stripes, different sized checks, etc… Keep it simple. Small check, light blue, perfect. Not the slimmest shirts in the world, but the construction on these is real nice for the low cost.
DKNY Slim Fit Stretch Cotton Dress Shirt – $39.99 ($65)

Has earned some great reviews, but a few negative comments say the fit really isn’t all that slim. Collar looks to be substantial, and the tag says 100% cotton. Still might need tailoring.
Izod Prep Shorts – $34.99* ($60)

“Perfect for clambakes”… Or, just biking over to a pals house and grilling up some burgers. Rise looks neither too short nor too long on these. But it doesn’t get specific in the description on the site.
Andrew Fezza Grey Glen Plaid Wool Blazer – $89.99 ($250)

So the shoulders don’t look the best in the online pics, but for $90, you get a wool blazer in glen plaid that’s not too outrageous on the contrast. Fit is unknown?
Timex Originals 42mm Brown Strap – $48.75 ($65)

Macy’s claims this watch is exclusive to their store. Well… kinda. Timex does sell it direct, but for the full $65. 42mm diameter means it’s a little larger than most Timex watches.
Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply Duffel – $60.99 ($165)

What. Too loud?
INC Linen Blend blazer – $63.99 – $79.99?????

And it still doesn’t appear to have shown up online. Shell is a mix. 55% linen, 45% ramie, which is a natural fiber. See a close up on the fabric here. It is lined, so it’s not as breezy as last year’s INC barely-there ultra lights, but it’s still much lighter than most blazers. Could be a little trimmer at the waist, but plenty will be able to skate by without extra tailoring. Armholes are a bit low, fit is a little off in places, but for $80 or under it’s a real good deal. First featured here.
The current Macy’s One Day Sale ends Saturday 5/12.
want those blazers – all three… blew my budget on shoes and I’m still digging my way out. will have to wait, but damn it’s tempting.
Oy….that bag is interesting to say the least.
One of my greatest finds of all time was this Fred Perry bag that was in the clearance section of an Urban Outfitters for some reason priced at $15.

Any good deals on navy blazers during this one day sale?
The bag?? Someone else chime in as I’m confused as to whether I love it or it’s terrible?
Ha, in the same exact situation.
Fishing for input on that Michael Kors Linen Blazer. Hard to find a 38L in anything so I might just give it a try, but, to choose between the blue (which appears to be a lighter chambray-style blue) or the tan? I tend to wear dark jeans more often than khakis, so I’m leaning towards the tan.
I’ve tried on the Michael Kors blazers (not either of those particular ones) in a 36S, and they seem to run big. I expected it to need tailoring in the sides, but the shoulders were WAY too wide.
Bought the Timex Originals watch directly from the Timex after you linked to it in the Kentucky Derby post. It definitely does run larger than your standard Weekender, and it does tick a bit loudly, but I am really happy with it. Simple, great looking watch. Steal for less than $50.
Can you pair a glen plaid blazer with patterned shirts?
I got the same bag off cladmen.com for 17 or so..
I’ve got an Andrew Fezza sportcoat – pretty nice material/construction for the price (got it on clearance for $65), but would be way overpriced at $250. My tailor was shocked at the quality for how little I paid for it. had to get the sides taken in and the sleeves tapered, but other than that it fit great off the rack – which is very unusual for me (I’m about 5’7″, 145lb, slim build), I almost always have to get more done. I usually am a 38S and the 38S in the Fezza fit great in the shoulders, which rarely happens (usually 36 is too small/makes me feel like the Hulk and 38 is just slightly too wide)
The shoulders don’t look great on the picture.
(Until I decided the shoulders threw me off of getting one, I definitely leaned towards the tan)
Yeah, I think I’ve come to the same conclusion based on the photos, and IanD’s comment below. Death to football shoulders!
That Michael Kors shirt is one of my favs. Needs tailoring though.
10 off 25 coupon: http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/73982/macys-stores-macys-printable-coupon-10-off-25-for-sales-clearance-and-select-home-items
Nobody ever has 46S 🙁
Oh well, I really don’t need to be spending any money on clothes at that moment. I wouldn’t mind something lightweight for summer though.
What is upsetting is once you pay the shipping and the tax, itys not so much of a bargain. I like the Kors shirts and the watch. I have to spend $100 just to avoid shipping… I’m not so sure.
I was wondering if anyone else has the situation of being too wide for any of these jackets but has found a type that can fit well with tailoring and not look too dress like. I am 5-10 and my last chest measurement was a 44R. Problem is my pants are 33. So even an athletic fit is huge on me and tailoring can only do so much before the suit itself is destroyed. Any advice as these jackets seem a great casual throw on that I am looking for but dont ‘fit’. Thanks
I wonder if that D&S Co. bag comes with a Jockey inside.
This striped jacket from Rugby is a pretty good price right now, however I would definitely suggest getting into a store to try one on. Rugby can be a tough bowl of porridge to choose.

“100% PVC” There’s your reason.
So?
I just returned DKNY slim-fit shirts (the white one, literally the exact one you have posted) specifically because it was still blousey around the stomach. Also, this price isn’t great – in store it was 40% off $65 (making the shirt $39 even). One could even apply the 25% off coupon to that $39.
How’s the TH Sharkskin slim fit suit? price looks to be pretty good

used 10 off 25 coupon three times to pick up 3 wool slim fit slacks (Calvin K grey and black, bariii grey) for about 43 bucks each after tax (on sale for 50.00)
wish I had gone in earlier as I could have repeated the trick to pick up some nice colorful socks on the cheap.
Just a note… I’m pretty sure that Andrew Fezza plaid sportcoat is a poly/rayon blend. I tried on what looked to be the same jacket and the tag read poly/rayon. Also, I have an Andrew Fezza jacket in the same pattern but different color scheme and it is also a poly/rayon blend. But, for what it’s worth the shoulders are better in person the online pics show.
I have the grey TH sharkskin. It’s a nice suit, and I wear it all the time. Fairly lightweight — good for me since I live in the south.
good to hear! im in FL myself so its always hot here so hopefully itll fit well 🙂
