The Boots: Crosby Moc Toe Lace Up – $149.00
At first they felt a little stiff but they loosened up quick. The best looking boots you’ll actually enjoy getting dirty. The toe is rounded off evenly and not elongated, so it has more of a rustic look. The top stitching dresses it up, and adds a great contrast to the leather. The black option looks great against a smooth brown rubber (not leather) sole.
The Jeans: Heritage Straight Fit in Resin Rinse – $59.50
Lands’ End Canvas has started to source their denim cotton from the U.S.A. Manufacturing has been kept in this hemisphere (Mexico.) The fit is solid as well. Some guys think the LEC Straights are too trim. But a measuring tape shows they have a little more room than 501s. Not skinny by any means, nor baggy. Stay with the resin rinse.
The Blazer: Marled Blazer – $63.99 ($129.50)
Will absolutely need tailoring. This is an interesting one because it has no lining and while the marled fabric is mid weight, it feels awfully like an INC ultra light on your body. That’s good. But it’s real boxy off the rack. That’s not so good. It also comes with functioning buttons so that could be an issue. Three button front but the lapels come pre-rolled over to two. Extremely comfortable, but does need some post purchase work. (Post tailoring seen above)
The Sweater: Cotton Cashmere V-Neck – $59.90
It’s trimmer through the sides but not quite slim. That’s true for most L.E.C. stuff. Lightweight, smooth, and a deeper V than you’d expect which isn’t drastically low. A little darker in person and a great color. 5% cashmere.
The Shirt: Buffalo Check Poplin – $24.99 ($49.50)
Cooler weather doesn’t mean you have to ditch bold patterns. Instead of a black and red buffalo check hunter’s jacket, a washed poplin with that big pattern is a good way to break up all your fall solids. On sale. Button down collar.
The Bag: 1963 Trip Bag – $140.00
The real deal as far as waxed canvas is concerned. Got some muddy water on this while taking the photos, and the water beaded up, even right over the zipper. Good size and nice details. Function first, looks a close second.
Final Total: $497.38 (and feel free to take an extra 25% off with the friends and family code.)
Now it’s your turn. Choose your favorite piece from the outfit above and leave your pick in the comments below. One comment will be drawn at random and that person will win the $500 L.E.C. giftcard to buy this, or any other $500 combination of merchandise from Lands’ End Canvas. One entry per person. Deadline for entry is 11:59pm ET. on Thurs. 9/29/11. Good luck!
