Macy’s Men’s 25% Off Private Sale Picks

Macy’s Private Sale Extra 25% Off With Code: MENSVIP

Or, use the in-store pass for what looks to be 25% off purchases of $100 or more.

Didn’t we just do this?  Wait.  We did.  This might be a new thing for Macy’s.  Their once a month one-day-sales already run two days instead of one, so why not run a “Private” sale once every two weeks?

Savings aren’t half bad.  Downright One Day Sale levels if you use the code on something already on sale.  The 25% off doesn’t seem to have a purchase threshold online, unlike in-store where the savings pass says you have to drop $100 or more.  Works on most of their clothing and shoe options.  Here’s a few idea starters…
.

Hilfiger Trim Fit Khaki Cotton Poplin Suit – $187.48 (reg. $525)
Under $200, has a lot of potential.

Credit to Frank A. for spotting this edition to the Hilfiger Trim Fit lineup and sending in the Style Tip.  Haven’t seen these in store yet, but they’re separates, so if you’re oddly proportioned you’ve got the option to pick and chose pant and jacket sizes independent of the other.  If they fit and feel like their wool cousins, you’re in business.

Alfani Moon Plain Toe Lace Ups – $67.49 (reg. $89.99)
Be still. The pretty plainness (aside from the burnishing)

Stop the Presses.  (We don’t have presses…)  Stop the Word Presses.  Alfani made a more or less plain, pretty darn decent looking shoe, with a non squared off toe?  Madness.  They used to do this with some regularity.  Scouted these out in store.  There’s some darker burnishing at the toe but it’s less intense in person.  Leather has a worn-in look to it but not pre-distressed.  Best of all, they’re decently comfortable.  A non loafer casual shoe upgrade option.

Clarks Original Desert Boots – $71.25 (reg. $95.00)
Sand not included.

Not always the easiest to find on sale.  Real tough to find for around $70.  Four different color options to choose from.

Levi’s 501 – $29.99 – $37.49 (reg. $58.00 – $64.00)
Surprisingly eligible for the code.

Levi’s are almost always one of those pesky “Exception” brands during sales.  That doesn’t seem to be the case this time, and with 25% off, the price drops to under $30.  Color options are a bit all over the place on Macy’s.com, but even Dimensional Rigid (right) is on sale.  No word if the savings pass will apply in store.

Tommy Hilfiger Ithaca Fitted Check + Solid Dress Shirts – $33.51 ($69.50)
Might be able to get away without tailoring? Maybe?

More than a few of you guys have emailed in style tips about these shirts.  Reportedly a decently trim fit, solid construction, and that blue and yellow check might be a good way to add some warm weather color to a conservative work day wardrobe.

Hugo Boss Hankie Nubuck Blue Wingtips – $125.99 (reg. $225)
Nubuck up top, leather underneath.

An opportunity to channel your inner Elvis Aaron Presley for $100 off their regular price.  On sale already (which Hugo Boss anything doesn’t do very often).  Takes a bit of swagger to pull these off.

Frye Dakota Mid-Lace Boots – $133.50 (reg. $178.00)
Only available in two colors though.

The right blend of good looks and tough as all hell.  Made Primer Magazine director Andrew Snavely’s 5 Favorites.

Kenneth Cole REACTION Cotton Blazer – $59.63 (reg. $99.98)
Please avoid red ant tees and popping your collar.

Kenneth Cole REACTION stuff has a bad reputation.  Most if it either tries too hard, the quality is just not worth it, or it’s a combination of the two.  This blazer dodges those knocks for under $60.  The item description says it’s “sateen” but in person it’s not half bad.  Functional button cuffs but sleeves seem true.  Lighter color and more relaxed than this option from the Gap.

Kenneth Cole REACTION Cotton Mini Grid Blazer – $18.74 (reg. $79.50)
Tee Designed by Mt. Dew circa 1987

Already marked WAY down.  Haven’t seen it in person, and the pattern is tough to figure out on the web.  Looks to be structured just like this other option from REACTION (not quite as dirt cheap) and if it is, that means it’s as unlined as the well loved INC Ultra lights.

The Macy’s Men’s Private Sale ends Sunday June 5th.  Click here to print an in-store pass.

this is great, but you might add that, online, you have to beat 99 clams to get free shipping, which makes the no-threshold aspect of the sale not as sweet as it could be.

I think most know about Macy’s $99 = free shipping policy.  Plus returns are free in-store.  This really is a pretty decent sale even if you do get dinged for shipping (but of course, if they have what you want in store near you?  Obviously worth the trip)

Also note that the $99 threshold is for the pre-coupon subtotal, so you can walk out the door with two pairs of levi’s and the KC grey blazer for 81.78 shipped. Subtotal comes out to 100.97 🙂

i supposed i knew, too, about shipping cost; only i’d spaced it until i went to check out.

meanwhile, let’s say you meet the threshold but subsequently return an item, now bringing the total to beneath threshold levels.  do they subtract the shipping cost from the return refund or similar?

Last time I did something of that sort, they did not bother with any kind of shipping difference. I’ve known people who intentionally buy items to meet shipping limits, and return them just to save a few bucks. If you have the time to visit the B&M store, then why not return them? 🙂

Anybody have the Hilfiger suit and can attest to the fit of it, whether it is similar to the fit of the trim fit wool suits?

I can confirm that the coupon does not work for 25% Levis in store.

Is the blazer in the headline picture on sale as well? I’m liking it.

@dapperedsite:disqus , is the blazer in the headline picture on sale as well, and if so could we get a link? I’m liking it.

I bought the KC Reaction Blazer. No lining in it. Really light, slim fit. The buttons are usable, so you can roll up the sleeves. A great casual summer blazer. I would never wear it to work, But good for a night out.
