Ours: The Watch Refresh Project – $40 | Theirs: A fake “J. Crew” – $82.00
I was looking around on ebay for watchbands for the timex I got (from your post a while back) and noticed someone selling what appears to be the EXACT same watch and an AE strap for over $80. – a few poor souls appear to have bid on it too. It seems as though he’s trying to sell several of these and calling them “jcrew watches”. I thought you’d be interested to see. I figure whoever it is must have taken your idea.

Huh. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Even when the person doing the imitating is ripping people off? Probably just a coincidence, but what’s certain is that there’s something more than fishy going on here.
That’s no J. Crew Timex no matter what the item description says. It’s a T2N228 with a substitute strap. The very same model that was used in our 10 minute watch refresh project from mid April:

Might be an AE strap, might be a J. Crew strap, but no matter the strap, the watch itself retails for $31.11. At most the watch strap would set you back $15 if you picked one up at J. Crew. But you can find an extremely similar watch strap at American Eagle for $6.50… or less.
The seller is basically marking it up by double. Buyer beware. Especially on Ebay… right?
