The Summer Suit Search – Indochino’s New Linen/Cotton Collection
Three cheers for Indochino. Forget the new linen/cotton collection for a second. Focus instead on the new and vastly improved direction their model and promo photos are heading in. Gone are the collar pinned Boardwalk Empire Gigolos and Yacht Club Eunuchs. The new look is professional, and unlike some of their previous models, the new guy doesn’t look like he’s packing a few vials of GHB.
Art department aside, the suits look good. They’ve also recently added a couple new wool options, but it’s the linen blend suits that most are eying now that winter is a distant memory. What also seems to be fading in memory is the once ever present Indochino promo codes or Groupons. Haven’t seen one of those in awhile. Usually you could save around $100 on a suit purchase. I’ve asked. There’s nothing to speak of right now. All is silent on that front.
UPDATE: The fellas at Indochino got in touch to let us (and therefor you) know that they do have a standing wedding deal. For the guys looking to outfit their side of the wedding party, this might be worth giving a look.
More on that situation in a bit. Here’s the current collection with a quick knee-jerk ranking for each. Note that they’re not 100% linen, but instead a 55% Linen 45% cotton blend, which should prevent that all linen translucent look.
#1 Indochino The Ultimate Khaki Linen Suit – $419.00
Indochino is really swinging for the fences with these. They could have made a traditional caramel/camel khaki color and a bright white (those are still to come) and left it at that. But this one which is somewhere in-between? A not quite white but getting awfully close? Nice. It’s like a dressed up version of this. And the vest option is something for sure. Yes it’s completely temperature counter-intuitive to add a layer to a summer suit. But that’s what’s so interesting about it. Along with the contrast stitching at the button holes.
#2 Indochino Grey Linen Suit – $349.00
The #2 ranking for Indochino’s new grey linen suit is completely dependent on whether or not it’s a matte material. If it has some sort of Rusty in Ocean’s 12 sheen to it, then it gets knocked down a few rungs. Peak lapels are a little showy on a light linen suit. Stick with notch, and get some contrast in there with the tie.
Indochino Classic Camel Linen Suit – $349.00
What most guys think of when they think Summer or Linen suit. The traditional Khaki color. Again, that contrast stitching at the button holes is one sharp detail.
Indochino Navy Linen Suit – $349.00
You’re probably at least half a dozen suits deep in your collection if you’re considering this. Its use is limited by the sun absorbing color, but those light brown horn buttons are asking for warm brown shoes to be worn with them.
Indochino Summer Sensation White Linen Suit – $349.00
The all white linen suit. Not for everyone by any stretch. But with the advanced options, you could pick natural shoulders and end up with the most comfortable suit you’ve ever owned.
.
Back to the lack of coupon codes and Groupon discounts. That’s up to $100 most were saving on their Indochino suit purchase. If you have plans to buy from Indochino in the future is this making you reconsider? Or if you’ve already bought from them, were you pleased enough that you’d be willing to pay what now amounts to their full retail?
