To Boot New York Wingitp – $159.90 ($295) | Allen Edmonds Fairfax – $199.90 ($305)
Credit to Adam for sending in the style tip.
To quote my Grandpa Chuck… “That dog’ll hunt.” Or in the case of these two slightly off the wall stunners, these dogs… will in fact… hunt.
But priorities first fellas. You need a great pair of black and also dark brown dress lace ups in your collection before you start reaching out for an extra option like one of these. If you’ve got the standards taken care of, then maybe consider the Italian Made To Boot New York or American Made Allen Edmonds Fairfax. Because there’s something about an uber rich, deep, fresh off the comb honey-colored pair of dress shoes that turns heads. Might be too much for some to handle. Kinda like another red-hued stunner. Use at your own discretion.
So would you wear either pair? And if so… which one?
.

The Fairfax looks fantastic. Nice, clean, simple. *drools*
I got the Cole Haan pair you posted a few months ago. I’m happy with ’em, though the color wasn’t as rich as the website advertised–they arrived way darker. Anyway I people seem to think they’re good looking shoes.
I esp like the Fairfax. The AE perforations are almost unique, digging those too.
I splurged on a couple pairs of To Boot New York shoes in the past, and I’m sooo glad I did. The quality is great, and the style is unique without being over the top. I have a pair of chocolate brown cap toe oxfords that I get compliments on all the time, and gasp!!!, a pair of black double monks that I pull out for special occasions.. Full retail is tough to swallow usually, but $160 is a steal.
I see what your saying about the Allen Edmonds requiring that you already have the basics, but the To Boot wingtips look pretty traditional to me, other then the color.
I’m currently on the hunt for the perfect brown wing tip dress boot.
I love the look of the To Boot New York’s. The AE are a bit too off the wall for my tastes, but I agree they’re awesome shoes.
Cheers,
Ben
I’m a big fan of this shade of brown… in almost every circumstance it looks better than dark brown. So much richness, depth, complexity, interest. And it draws out other colors in the rest of your outfit far better. It is a bit more visible because it’s less common, but we’re not trying to look like everyone else! My go-to pair of brown dress shoes is this color, I don’t have a dark brown pair, and don’t have plans to get one anytime soon
I’m with Adam, I have an inherited pair of AE’s in a similar shade and I swear by them. Any thoughts on either shoe being paired with the classic navy blue suit from Indochino?
I would stick with a darker brown for that suit
Heck yeah, I’d wear those shoes – if I hadn’t already bought a different pair of To Boot NY amber colored shoes: http://www.toboot.com/shoes.aspx?cID=1&pID=10215.
I’m in shoevana!
Really want that To Boot oxford. Altho link to Nordstrom only has size 13. Any one know where I can get one in 10.5?
