Seiko SNN2 Series Chronographs: In Brown Leather – $141.00
| Black Ion Plated – $178.64
Three details should remind you of an airplane instrument dial:
- The downwards pointing triangle at noon
- The white sword silhouette hands
- The font of the numerals
These things look so much like an altimeter that if you fall off a ladder you’d expect the hands to spin uncontrollably. It looks like that these are your only two options for styling, for now. Seems like a pretty limited release, and hopefully they’ll pump out some more options with this dial (preferably one with a black leather band and matching dial). 42.6 mm in diameter, so not huge and not tiny either. Right in between.
Macy’s is selling both the Ion plated and Leather band for more than you can find them on Amazon, but only the leather band is sold by Amazon on Amazon. Internet watch buying can get a bit sketchy, so be careful, read the dealer reviews, and make sure you know the return policies.
All my watches currently are Seikos. I can attest that their quality is top notch and they are an incredible value. However, the name “Seiko” doesn’t exactly scream luxury watch, unless you’re talking about the Marine Master.
I also can say that Seiko’s are top notch quality. Very impressed with mine so far. These are gorgeous, but I would definitely love to see a black leather strap and black dial. Still, outstanding look!
Cheers,
Ben
@Ben: Like this one
? A bit more expensive, though.
Wow Bryan good find! That’s a really nice one too, although it seems a bit on the small side for my personal preferences. Thanks for passing that on though!
I guess there’s nothing stopping one from just replacing the black metal bracelet of the Pilot watch Joe featured with a leather band, is there?
Cheers,
Ben
Aha!
Here we go, Joe. They do have a version. This is ebay, but that means it should be available elsewhere as well!

Just picked this up (231 version with metal band) from a little local watch shop for $200 cash – tax in. I’m thrilled. The elegant, simple design is really growing on me and I’m loving the Brietling-evocative flight dial design. Very pleased.
