Merona Bold Stripe Socks – $2.50 / Pair at Target
Wearing brightly striped socks with a modern cut suit is a good look. They say to wear one, just one thing with a lot of flash, and if you’re more of a minimalist then picking socks as your “flash” is a great idea. You don’t see them constantly, but when you do… eureka… instant style boost.
GQ has endorsed the look, and I believe Esquire has too. These wide stripe dress socks by Target’s Merona brand aren’t scratchy thin, nor too thick. The large width of the stripes also allows you to wear them with a thinly pinstriped suit if you’d like.
Perfect dressed up, or also a nice dash of color with jeans, PF Flyers and a polo, these socks are a stand out addition to your wardrobe for the price of a couple packs of gum.

killer socks! do you know if target has other styles? do you know of any other resources for decent quality, fun socks? – thanks, and keep posting, you have a great blog!
Target has several different colors for both argyle and bold striped. I have both styles in teal/gray, red/gray, purple/gray and navy/gray off the top of my head.
I also have a few pairs of colorful argyle socks from Express which were pretty cheap but not as cheap as Target.
They have bright solid colors as well. Red, Yellow, Teal, and Lavender at my local store. I picked up several pairs a few days ago.
When I wear these I always feel like Dr. Seuss. 🙂
Can you wear socks like these with jeans, polo, and boat shoes? And are you supposed to match the sock’s color to the shirt’s color, or what?
Ha! Is that such a bad thing. Life sucks. Any time you can make your world more like “oh, the places you’ll go” the better, if you ask me. … Which no one did.
