Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend or a bit earlier. Five of the better sales are below, plus bonus sales if need be. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
Spier & Mackay: Up to 20% off select “Ellis” items
- Navy Hopsack Suit – $448.20 ($498) 10% off
- Petrol Blue Lanificio Zignone Super 130s Suit – $493.20 ($548) 10% off
- Donegal Trousers – $168.30 ($198) 15% off
- Flannel (92% wool / 8% cashmere) Trousers – $168.30 ($198) 15% off
The Ellis cut/line is their core line. Select items/colors only though. Suits use nice merino wool fabrics and a half canvas construction. Sleeve cuff buttons are non functioning for easy & cheap tailoring. Available in two fits (slim or contemporary fit). They also make dress trousers, and some of those on sale even come in fall/wintry fabrics like tweed and donegal. Remember, as this is an “up to” sale, many items will be 10% or 15% off. Not all will get the full/max 20% off cut. Far from it. But still a nice deal if you’re a fan of Spier and the bang-for-buck they provide.
Oak Street: 20% off USA Made 1975 NATO watch cap + scarf bundles
- 1975 NATO Merino Watch Cap + Marine Scarf – $136 ($170) navy or gray
- 1975 NATO Merino Watch Cap – $48
- 1975 NATO Merino Marine Scarf – $122
Not cheap, but these are re-issues, not replicas, as they’re made to the same spec and even on the same machines as the originals. A perfect gift for the classic guy who values made in the USA stuff. Even if/especially if that’s you.
J. Crew Factory: Extra 20% off their holiday gifts shop w/ PRESENTS
- Brown Houndstooth 60% poly/40% wool Car Coat – $180 ($450) 60% off*
- Navy 60% poly/40% wool Car Coat – $180 ($450) 60% off*
- 50% merino / 50% acrylic Quarter Zips – $52 ($130) 60% off*
- 50% merino / 50% acrylic Crewnecks – $44 ($110) 60% off*
Obligatory reminder that as this is J. Crew’s step-down/diffusion line J. Crew Factory, overall quality and fabrics just won’t be as good as the mainline stuff. But sheesh… when’s the last time J. Crew mainline ran any sort of sale? Been a lonnnnnng time. Also, for the sake of comparison, BR’s 100% merino wool crewnecks are currently $54 during their big 40% off holiday preview event. And now here we have J. Crew Factory’s merino-blend sweaters, which are 50% merino/50% acrylic, going for $44. Ten bucks is ten bucks, but that’s a lot less merino. Yet many have had good luck with JCF, so, still worth a mention here.
*PRICING NOTE: As J. Crew Factory is an outlet styled “Factory” brand, they’re almost always having a big (big!) huge (very huge!) sale. Which means their pricing should be taken with a grain of salt. 40% off is standard. 50% off is good. Anything more than that is usually a sign it’s a deal. But YMMV.
L.L. Bean: 10% off w/ GATHER10
- Crafted in Maine 8″ Bean Boots – $135 ($150)
- Crafted in Maine Fleece-Lined Insulated 8″ Bean Boots – $180 ($200)
If memory serves, L.L. Bean MAY do 15% off or thereabouts for Black Friday. Maybe. But the timing, as they say, is everything. And it’s November now. Storm’s coming.
Brooks Brothers: Wardrobe Event (ends Monday)
- 2 Explorer Italian Wool Suit Separate Sets – $1199 ($1792) 33% off
- Dark Gray Slim Fit Wool Suit Jacket + Matching Trouser = $599.50 ($896)
- Navy Slim Fit Wool Suit Jacket + Matching Trouser = $599.50 ($896)
- Dark Gray Slim Fit Wool Suit Jacket + Matching Trouser = $599.50 ($896)
- 3 or more shirts 40% off
- 30% off select shoes
- Salinger Blucher – $173.60 ($248)
- 30% off select Blazers and Sportcoats
Most of their site is on sale. Different deals for different categories, and a lot of them are bulk buys (must buy 2 Explorer Suit Separate Pairs / Must buy 3 or more shirts, etc…) but if you’re a Brooks Brothers customer, it’s a solid time if you want to stock up pre holiday rush.
Also worth a mention:
- Banana Republic: Their big 40% off Holiday Preview Event is underway. But you probably knew that already.
- Orient: They’ve just released a new, smaller, 36.4mm Bambino.
- BR Factory: 60% off most (50% off + additional 20% off).
