Banana Republic: 40% off most full-price
Banana Republic doesn’t run 40% off that often. It’s as deep as they’ll go, and they only do it a handful of times a year.
And this one in particular is probably their best of the best, considering:
- The holidays are coming – We’ve got time to get stuff in/tried on/tailored if necessary.
- New arrivals just landed – Lots of new/fall winter stuff.
- It’s stacking on specials – Example: Their Flagship Suits are on special and getting an addit. 40% off.
So yeah. This is significant. And it feels like this F/W lineup is one of their better collections to land in recent years.
Leather and suede apparel, cashmere and cashmere blends, shoes, 3rd party, and a few other random categories are excluded. Clearance stuff is out too. But most full priced stuff, including their new Fall/Winter collection, is getting 40% off, no code needed.
Ends Wednesday 11/11. Let’s get to the picks…
Italian Wool Suit Jackets & Matching Trousers = $360* ($680) 47.1% off
- Blue or Gray Vitale Barberis Canonico Tropical Wool Suit Jackets – $240 ($450)
- Blue or Gray Vitale Barberis Canonico Tropical Wool Suit Trousers – $120 ($230)
Pricing Note: These are on special and the 40% off is stacking. So somehow/someway, these are actually 47.1% off. Which is kinda unheard of.
These are their flagship suits, and they’re pretty great when 40% off. Sold as separates, so you pick the size of the jacket and the size of the trousers independent of each other. No “nested” pairs here where you may be stuck with a pair of pants or jacket a touch too big or small. Tropical weight wool, which will be nicely comfortable in warmer weather but also excels year round. See our review of their signature suits here, albeit in a slightly different, all-season micro houndstooth navy wool. And if you want to compare/contrast to other suits in this price range, see our best suits under $500 list here.
Classic Leather Dress Belts – $48 ($80)
Something to wear with those suits.
Wrinkle Resistant Dress Shirts in Slim or Standard Fit – $48* ($90) 46.66% off
Pricing Note: Like the suits, these are also on special and the 40% off stacks. Works out to 46.66% off.
Great collars, wrinkle resistant 100% cotton fabric, and all the colors/patterns you could want. A bit of ironing may be needed by most, but it irons up easy and doesn’t come out of the dryer looking like a wreck. So if you wear it under a suit, sportcoat, or sweater, you can probably get away with skipping the iron. The one major drawback (and it’s a dealbreaker for some) is that despite being dress shirts, they’re sold in “alpha” sizes like small, medium, large, etc. Although they do offer a tall template, for our vertically blessed folks out there. Really wish BR would make the switch to neck and sleeve measurements for their dress shirts. It’s just more precise. Size shown above is a medium slim fit on 5’10″/180.
Waxed Quilted Jacket – $238.80 ($398)
Waxed! Quilted! There’s some rugged-style buzz-words going on there. Clearly (much) different than the Skyfall jacket, but in the same ballpark. Onion style quilting with brass-tone snaps.
Italian Melton Topcoats – $268.80 ($448)
Every year BR makes topcoats from Italian wool blends which look great dressed up as well as dressed down. This year is no exception. 69% recycled wool, 31% polyester melton from Italy’s Nova Fides.
Luxe Traveler Jeans in Slim, Athletic, or Straight Fit – $78 ($130)
- Slim Fit Luxe Traveler Jeans – $78 leg opening 14″
- Athletic Fit Luxe Traveler Jeans – $78 ($130) leg opening 14″ (but more room in seat/thigh)
- Straight Fit Luxe Traveler Jeans – $78 ($130) leg opening 15.5″
When they’re on super sale like this, they’re the market’s best balance of price (not cheap but not triple digits) and nice quality/feel/significant stretch. Still an investment at almost eighty bucks, but worth it to a lot of us. Fabric blend is 64% cotton, 28% Tencel (lyocell), 6% elasterrell, 2% spandex. The end result is a soft and stretchy, ultra-comfortable pair of jeans. Slim, athletic, or straight fit. Lots of washes to choose from.
100% Shetland Wool Tweed Jacket – $268.80 ($448)
Also shown at the very top right of the post. For those who want to do the earth-tone sportcoat/blazer thing this fall, without looking like you raided a dusty old professor’s closet.
Brushed Italian Moleskin Traveler Pants – $78 ($130)
Fall winter warmth and texture, in their bestselling 5-pocket style. These are the brushed, cotton moleskin versions of their highly popular 5-pockets. Appears to be only available in their slim fit at post time. That may change though.
Italian Flannel Jacket – $268.80 ($448)
Something to pair up with a pair of those Traveler jeans. Does have matching suit trousers if you want to make it a whole suit, but it looks pretty excellent as a stand-alone cool/cold weather sportcoat.
100% Merino Crewneck Sweaters – $54 ($90)
Extra fine merino. Tons of colors. BR’s merino sweaters are an annual favorite as they’re a step above in terms of quality when compared to cheaper brands, yet they also occasionally go on sale. Tons of colors. All those you’d expect, and some you wouldn’t.
100% Merino Half-Zip Sweaters – $66 ($110)
And the half zips. Because that water cooler ain’t gonna look sexy by itself.
100% Merino V-neck Sweaters – $54 ($90)
Finally, the v-necks. Just three colors so far this season though.
Slub Double Knit Polos – $58.80 ($98)
A more refined but still casual alternative to wearing a bulky/squishy hoodie.
Italian Melton Peacoat – $298.80 ($498)
Bond like looks without needing the MI6 credit card. Still spendy. Still expensive. But BR does outerwear well.
Double Face Merino Sweater “Jackets” with Suede Elbow Patches – $132 ($220)
Double face. So should feel a little warmer than a standard cardigan, but still probably not true outerwear.
Plaid Cotton Canvas Barn Coat with Corduroy Collar – $208.80 ($348)
That’s new. And different. Different without getting crazy.
Straight Fit Corduroy Traveler Pants – $60* ($130) 53.8% off
Pricing Note: you guessed it. Another on special + stacking 40% off steal. Marked down to $100 from $130, and then the 40% off on top of that works out to more than half off.
BR’s bestselling 5 pockets in a fall/winter ready corduroy fabric.
Canvas and Suede(?) Belts – $42 ($70)
A casual belt with some interest thanks to the leather/suede up front.
Cotton Quilted Quarter Zip – $88.80 ($148) & Pants – $108 ($180)
The official uniform of Working on my Night Cheese.
Italian Stretch Wool Barathea Suit Separates = $406.80 ($678)
Man. That suit is the business. Here’s what Barathea is for those who are curious.
Lived-in Chinos in Slim, Athletic, or Straight Fit – $60 ($100)
- Slim Fit Lived-in Chinos – $60 ($100)
- Athletic Fit Lived-in Chinos – $60 ($100)
- Straight Fit Lived-in Chinos – $60 ($100)
BR’s new flagship chinos. 97% cotton, 3% spandex.
Wool/Nylon Tweed Jacket – $268.80 ($448)
They’re calling it “charcoal” but it presents as a more mid-gray. Should go great with jeans, darker navy or charcoal trousers, and all sorts of earthtone chinos or cords.
Slub Double Knit Crewnecks – $42 ($70)
Something they debuted a year or two back which quickly became a hit. Somewhere between a long sleeve t-shirt and a sweatshirt. Lots of colors to choose from.
Luxury Touch T-Shirts – $30 ($50)
BR’s “dressy” tees. Super smooth 100% jersey cotton with a silk-like luxe touch finish. Solids only. Not slub. Not “washed.” Not vintage. Smooth. Clean. Neat. And they better be for thirty bucks a pop.
Italian Wool-Blend Herringbone Jacket – $268.80 ($448)
Another jacket which has matching trousers in case you want to make it a suit, but it does seem to excel as a stand alone sportcoat. Fabric is a blend of wool, poly, nylon, and a dash of linen.
Cotton Bomber Sweater Jacket – $132 ($220)
Great textures. 100% cotton. A perfect option for those who are allergic to or just don’t like the feel of wool.
Reversible Leather Dress Belt – $48 ($80)
Black and cognac. Just depends on which side you’ve got facing out. Weathered looking buckle keeps the glare down without looking overly vintage.
Traveler Pants in Slim, Athletic, or Straight Fit – $72 ($120)
- Slim Fit Traveler Pants – $72 ($120)
- Athletic Fit Traveler Pants – $72 ($120)
- Straight Fit Traveler Pants – $66 ($110)
One of their bestsellers. The mid-point between chinos and jeans. Three fits. Soft and flexible Italian milled fabric: 58% organic cotton, 32% modal, 7% polyester, 3% elastane. Lots of colors.
Slim Stretch Cotton Wrinkle-Resistant Dress Pants – $90 ($150)
BR’s dress trousers for office workers who want easy to launder work-pants. Machine wash, and hopefully not too much ironing required. At least that’s what they’re claiming with these 98% cotton / 2% stretch numbers. Mid-rise. Tapered slim leg. Visual texture.
Classic Tapered Stretch Cotton Wrinkle-Resistant Dress Pants – $90 ($150)
Same thing, just in a classic but still tapered fit. 98% cotton / 2% stretch.
Luxury-Touch Polo – $42 ($70)
Size Shown: Medium on 5’10″/185
These are BR’s flagship polo, with a two button placket and smooth cotton fabric. They’re the polo for those who want something dressy, smooth, and it has to be cotton (and not performance/tech-y fabric). 100% mercerized cotton, so it’s got an almost glass smooth feel to the fabric. Fabric is more of a mid-weight. Not heavy, not stiff, but not airy like a tech fabric polo. Ribbed collar and sleeve ends. Do be aware that in the past some have had shrinkage issues when machine washed/tumbled dry.
Standard Fit Oxford Cloth Button Downs – $48 ($80)
Lots of colors. BR’s OCBDS. Now with a glasses hook, as indicated by the arrow above.
Velvet Tuxedo Jacket – $298.80 ($498)
In case you want to get ready for this year’s fancy holiday party circuit. Shawl collar and a ticket pocket.
The 40% off Banana Republic holiday preview event ends 11/11/26.
