What are you going to wear? Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. Football, finally seeing a break in the heat, and a few days that feel almost cold. This is arguably the best time of year for dressing well. We’ll do three fall style scenarios over the next few posts, starting today with a casual but still intentional look, here with none of the pieces costing more than $100.
The Jacket: (Amazon sourced) JMIERR Quilted Bomber – $45ish. Affordable. Lighter weight but still has some insulation. Diamond quilting makes it just a bit different than standard bomber jackets, but it’s not puffy or bloated. Here’s how a size medium fits on 5’10″/185. Only thing that looks or feels cheap are the zipper pulls, which are polished silver tone instead of matte gray or black.
The T-Shirt: Target Goodfellow 100% Cotton Tee in Blue – $10. Cheap. Widely available. And the blue adds a nice bit of color without being bright or garish.
The Pants: Old Navy Tech 4.0 Chinos – $35ish. Pants of the year? Have to be. Inexpensive, super comfortable, and comes in numerous fits. Full review here.
The Sunglasses: CARFIA Retro Square Polarized Sunglasses – $23.50 ($47). Nicely weighted acetate frames. Tortoise tops with a light brown/beige lower half.
The Watch: Casio Duro Marlin – $66.26 & Islander 22mm Brushed Duro Stainless Bracelet – $69. This is cheating on the “nothing over $100” math, as together the watch and optional aftermarket bracelet costs ~$136. But what you get for the money is a handsome, rugged diver which punches far above its price point, on a fully brushed bracelet made just for that particular watch.
The Socks: Darn Tough The Standard – $25. Ol’ reliable is exactly that. And they’re made in the USA.
The Boots: Eastland Jack Chukkas – $89.97 ($125). Red Wing looks on a budget. Ships free from Nordstrom Rack. Returns will set you back a pre-paid label, unless you can get them to a physical Nordstrom Rack or Nordstrom location. Also available on Zappos (free shipping/returns) but they run $120 over there.
The Belt: J. Crew Factory Wide Leather Belt – $34.50. Rugged looks to go with the boots.
