Consider this week five days of saying thank you. Without your readership, your emails, and your willingness to spread the word, Dappered wouldn’t exist. The collection of good guys who frequent this corner of the internet is by far the greatest achievement of this website. And to say thank you, we’ve put together five, splurge-worthy giveaways that’ll hopefully express our gratitude. Welcome to Dappered’s Reader Appreciation Week. Good luck, and thanks a million.
The ability to stay true to their heritage roots, while still introducing a few new, dynamite, style forward models each year, really sets Allen Edmonds apart. There will always be a market for the Park Avenue. And no one is making the case to stop making those. Hardly. But Allen Edmonds? Kudos for keeping up with the times… all at the same time. And nothing makes the case for balancing classic quality and designs with modern appeal quite like these new Liverpool chelseas.
The Chelsea boot, and these Liverpools in particular, prove that less really can be more. No broguing or extra stitching here. Just a lot of amazing looking leather. Sleek enough to wear with a suit (yes really, just try putting them on with a suit once and you’ll see), and they’re also easy to wear with dark jeans.
Fit is snug. Glove-like. And that’s the way they should be. A loose Chelsea boot will almost always end in blisters. So AE’s last (the form they mold the leather around) development team got this one quite right. A 10.5 D pulled on easy but then hugged my normally 10.5 D feet with a solid embrace. Not a bone crushing bear hug. Not a dead fish handshake. A good, welcome, comfortable, fit. And that fit should only get better with wear, thanks to the insoles that mold over time to the wearer’s foot.
Toe shape is a very soft, rounded edge chisel. Modern and purposeful without scaring off the more traditional types. Can’t say enough about the leather. This walnut shade leather feels even softer and more flexible than normal. Maybe that’s why they’re priced north of $400? That’s just speculation though. Bottom line = the leather is nice.
Made in the USA and Goodyear welted of course. V-tread rubber sole is standard to help keep you upright on the slick fall/winter sidewalks of Northwest England. Or the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Or Brooklyn. Or Chicago. Or Tulsa. Or Duluth.
Sure, those four fellas from Liverpool once sang: “I don’t care too much for money, money can’t buy me love.” But in this case, money can buy you a pair of these. And good luck not falling in love with them once they arrive.
