This feels familiar… no? That’s because something very similar happened last month.
Many of those picks have long since sold out, but it does appear that East Dane injected some fresh stock into their sale section in the not too distant past. A reminder about East Dane: stuff can get expensive and weird. But there are some high quality pieces to be found. That, and it’s an Amazon project. So shipping is fast and free (3 days if you don’t have Prime, 2 days if you do) and returns are free and easy. Picks are below. Feels like a true clearance, so, for most items, sizes are a bit scattered and might sell out fast.
Interesting that the description refers to this as “Tweed”… and it’s a linen cotton blend. So, if there’s such a thing as summer tweed, this is it. Most linen/cotton fabrics do have some texture though. That’s expected with a slubbier (not a word) fabric like linen. Made in Italy. Tail looks a little… abbreviated? But it’s not final sale, so you can return it if it doesn’t hit your rear quite right.
Made in England. Classic and sleek. Just make sure you get the fit right. These might run a touch long, but are leaning narrow. So be sure to try them out on a carpeted surface first, and don’t be afraid to send em’ back if you still can. Because a bad fit on a chelsea boot can lead to blisters the size of Birmingham.
Jack Spade does it again. A nice blend of modern aesthetics without dropping over into the deep end of weird. Wool felt exterior with pebbled leather trim and… wait a minute. Kahn? This bag is the Kahn?
Okay, so it’s “Kahn” vs. “Khan”… but… still. Never waste an opportunity to reference Star Trek II.
Two pairs in canvas, one in leather (the all white Sperry are the leather pair). Classic shapes. Versatile colors. And they all ship free and fast and return easy and free if they don’t fit.
Not bad for a pair of basic swim trunks. Add in the fact that they’re made here in the states, and now we’re talking. No scrunchy elastic at the base. Stripe down the sides of the legs. Be warned that these are unlined though, so your noodle might go a wanderin’ in the broth.
Going to be tough to find these for less. A rare price for these made in the USA Beauties. But, and it’s a big but… they’re small. Just 13.75 inches long. So you better travel real light if you’re going to use this as your every day briefcase.
Made in Canada, a versatile shade of grey, and cut in their slim tapered silhouette. Selvedge too (if you’re the type to care about such a thing). Sure, they’re not a deep dark blue, but grey jeans are pretty versatile all the same.
Made in the UK just like the chelsea boots. These lean more towards the smart casual side, thanks to the blucher style open lacing, the reinforced eyelets, and those thicker cord laces. Goodyear welted.
Pretty decent price for a made in the USA, waxed canvas duffel. True duffel shape here. Just over 3,000 cubic inches of space inside, so, not tiny. Not huge, but not dinky either. Waxed canvas exterior and good looking leather accents.
Not your average solid polo, that’s for sure. But the dot pattern isn’t too aggressive/loud either. Placket is a full four buttons long, which stands out a bit more than other average polos. Made in Peru.
Smart looking boat shoes/camp mocs at a dirt cheap/throwaway shoe price. Navy leather uppers with contrasting raw-hide laces and that classic off-white sole. Very limited size selection at post time.
Not a ton of sizes left, but 38 and 42 were available at post time. Made in Portugal. Description says the sleeves are lined, but makes no mention of the back or front? Maybe it’s all but unlined then? Was $177ish during the last extra 25% off code, so, better savings this time around.
With a little more room than some super basic, super thin card cases, but still not as expansive as a true billfold. No cheesy plastic window either.
Look, I know some of you guys might turn your noses up at Cole Haan. But fifty four bucks? Made in India. Appears to be from one of their upgraded lines. Milkshake suede should go with plenty of your warm weather gear, and could do some work in early fall as well.
A basic, sure, but it’s tough to beat the contrast between a navy base and white breton stripes. Cotton. Made in India.
Description says they’re made in the USA… NOPE. They’re made in Portugal. Not part of the 1,000 mile line, but still, awfully good looking for the $73 asking price.
Out of season, but a fall classic in the minds of many. Waxed canvas exterior, flannel lined, corduroy collar, and the description claims these things are made in the UK. Really? Apparently so. Chest high hand warmer pockets are a nice touch. A few less sizes this time around. Really nice quality if you get your hands on one in person. Arm holes are quite high, which many will appreciate. But if you’re in the “welcome to the gun show” crowd, your bazookas might feel strangled.
And then there’s this. Not sure how to feel about this thing. It’s made in the UK like its classic cousins above… but the combination of a longer length and a baseball jacket like collar / elastic cuffs might throw a few off. Final sale too, so, no returns.
Not your average card case. Nautical with a punch. A leather punch. Embossed anchors are tough not to notice. Curved card slots on either side of the case with a center, lined pocket for cash.
Made in Italy. And don’t underestimate the versatility of a slim chukka. These could even be worn with a medium grey suit, light blue shirt, no tie, and maybe a chambray pocket square.
Wrapping up how we started this thing. With a Billy Reid, Italian made jacket. This time it’s in a basic, navy twill. The polished cotton blazer is an excellent thing for any guy who cares about style to have on hand. Just a matter of whether or not this cut works for your body type, and the price works for your wallet.
