Mr. Porter just doesn’t get a lot of screen time on this tiny corner of the internet. Why? Because they sell $1200 Hibiscus Print Hooded Windbreakers (down from $1700!) and $276 triceratops lapel pins (was $395). Most of their inventory is high end, super flashy stuff. Yet they do carry a few brands that lean more classic, and can sometimes be had for a reasonable price.
They don’t run sales often. Hardly ever actually, and their summer sale just launched this morning. Looks like all of this stuff, even though it’s on sale, ships and returns for free? Once their sale launches, items can move pretty fast. All picks below had at least a decent size selection at post time, unless otherwise noted. But it’s all still pretty spendy. Don’t expect anything super cheap here. If you’re the type who’s attracted to the higher end, more design-forward stuff, might want to forget where you put your wallet for a while.
Over half a grand for a jacket is no small ask. But considering that it’s a heritage classic, like the Belstaff Roadmaster, it might get some guys thinking about making an investment. Waxed Cotton. Velvet lined collar. Pretty sure these are made in Romania?
Yep, they sell a few brands like J. Crew and Club Monaco and a few others on their own site. And the good news is that unlike other J. Crew goods that dip to half off, these aren’t final sale. And they ship and return free.
From a $32 shirt to a FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLAR WATCH? Why not. It’s a Mr. Porter sale, so, things are gonna get nuts. But look, Junghans, as a brand, gets a lot of respect from the watch loving world. And automatic chronographs don’t come cheap. (Most Hamilton’s with the Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement start around a grand.) Made in Germany. More on the Meister line can be found here.
A little more refined looking than a standard wayfarer, but doesn’t get too retro-y in design. Pretty darn simple. Acetate frames. Made in Japan.
Ooh. Nubuck huh? For seventy five bucks? Those are tempting. The revamp of the JP has pleased plenty, but then there are those of us who were… less than impressed. But if the stiff duck canvas has been swapped out for nubuck? Well now we’re talking.
Not your standard wayfarers or aviators. And that’ll certainly appeal to some (but not all.). Tortoise shell pattern on both of these. All acetate for the Persol option, with an acetate/wire combo for the Ray-Bans.
A little too showy for some, but a perfect summer loafer (if not almost year round loafer) for others. Gonna look great sockless now, and why couldn’t they work with dark wash denim and a light grey sportcoat in the fall? Careful with those soles once you first get them. They’ll be slicker than greased snot before you scuff them up (and don’t scuff them, obviously, if you need to return them).
Just different enough. Blue instead of the standard black or brown. Grained leather. Subtle logo.
Or… you could just walk into any Cabela’s and pick up something similar from Carhartt.
Goodyear welted, deep dark suede, awfully sleek looking toes. Perhaps a smooth-soled alternative to the Loake Kempton? And there’s less hassle in terms of ordering with these from Grenson. For what it’s worth, the Allen Edmonds Mojave 2.0 is currently on Nordstrom Rack for under $190. Might want to check those out first. Hat tip to Xing L. for the heads up!
Professional but not stuffy or old school. Grained, textured leather. Detachable shoulder strap.
A crazy cheap price for these things… and that’s precisely why they’re almost completely sold out at post time. Keep an eye on them though. If someone returns them while the sale is still going on, you might luck out and get a pair in your size. That’s a long shot of a strategy, but, you never know. Goodyear welted and made in the USA.
Can’t say I’ve heard of the brand, but they’re made in Italy, have plenty of character, and with the free shipping and free returns it might be worth a shot for some in the market.
Terrific bright blue color with white stitching. Mid rise with a straight leg. Subtle branding. Pretty sure these do NOT come with a mesh liner?
American made crap-kickers. Cut from Horween “cavalier” leather which has a bit of a worn/washed appearance. Mini-Lug Vibram soles so you get the grip without the enormous, toothy profile that true lug soles bring.
Not sure when the Mr. Porter Sale expires, but in the past it’s run for about a month. Stock seems to go really fast though. Remember, standard shipping and returns are free in the US.
The Huck team is off on vacation. Which means their big winter clearance is very…
Brooks Brothers starts their winter clearance with an additional 25% off sale items.
Plus a Christmas album you probably haven't heard yet this year. Maybe.
With a focus on holiday events. It's their last sale before their shipping cutoff.
