Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below, plus bonus sales if need be. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
So it’s a multi-buy, and you have to invest over six bills to get in on it, but that’s even better than the previous multi buy deal they ran not that long ago (two suits for $825 CAD). That’s a lot of suit for just over three hundred bucks a pop if you buy two at a time. Half canvas, available in slim or contemporary fit (contemporary = bigger for the more built guys), and easy to tailor, non functioning sleeve cuff buttons. Full review of Spier & Mackay can be found here. Remember, these do ship from Canada, so you’re on the hook for return costs as well as any international exchange fees.
Massimo Dutti doesn’t get a lot of play on this corner of the internet, so the description of what they are has to be repeated (and sorry if you’ve heard this before). Zara is to Massimo Dutti as GAP is to Banana Republic. Zara is the cheaper line, and Massimo Dutti is the more expensive (but still not overly pricey), better designed line. Thing about Massimo Dutti and Zara is that they rarely run sales. So, when they run one? Worth a mention. And their seasonal sale just launched. Still seems like they’re doing free shipping and free returns too?
Free shipping no minimum, AND their polos are still on sale? Excellent. Also, totally get that some guys hate the button down collar, but for those on the fence, they just don’t look like a short sleeve dress shirt in any way. And that collar stays in line. Three button placket looks great with one, or two buttons undone. Be warned, they did make their sizing more generous this year, so if you liked, say, a medium last year? You might want to size down. Size shown above is a medium on 5’10” / 185.
The good news? Their excellent Legacy Blazers have been put on sale for $309 (down from $388) and the extra 30% off puts them at a level they haven’t dipped to quite yet. The bad news? The Ludlow fit is all but sold out. But if you’re on the more muscular side, the Crosby fit is certainly worth a look. The three out of five star review average is a bit misleading, since the only one star review given complained about it being only half lined in the back (which, a lot of us prefer) and it being made in China (par for the course). Full review can be found here.
Also, they’ve added some new options in their (very) limited select items sale. Pique suits and Irish linen suits. Just one review on the Irish Linen suit separates. And it’s a one star. But, some context. Here it is:
Thats gotta be a joke. Right? Bendjamin?
Or is it some sort of long-play, reverse psychology, in an attempt to get a price drop?
Meanwhile, here’s the argument for summer suits in darker shades.
The Pick: Club Shorts – $14.00 ($24.99)
There’s hardly a better deal on the shorts market than Target’s Club Shorts. Sure, they’re a bit on the long side for those who pay attention to trends, but they’re not capris or anything. And fourteen bucks? Description says they’re chambray fabric? C’mon now. If they could only bring back the oxford cloth shorts and then we’d be even better.
So what is their semi-annual sale? If BB Semi-Annual sales from the past are any indication, then it’ll be an eclectic mix of markdowns. Expect some kind of bulk buy deal (say, buy 4 shirts and save X% off), some Allen Edmonds for Brooks Brothers shoe discounts, and a smattering of other cuts across the board. Sizes can go quickly on some items, since it often feels like they’re trying to clear the decks for the incoming autumn crop of new arrivals.
The (obvious) pick: Armogan Spirit of St. Louis Chronograph – $154.98 ($225)
That has to be about as low as they’ve gone for. Ever. Quartz of course. Sueded strap. Slightly dommed crystal. A real looker in person. Was going for closer to $200 but this color combo, with its versatile chocolate brown sueded strap, is now at $155. The other color combos, oddly enough, are still at $199.98. Full review here.
