J. Crew’s $25 off $125, $75 off $250, $175 off $500 Sale

February 15, 2016 By Joe | Heads up: Buying via our links results in us getting a commission (not always, but just about), which helps keep the lights on around here. We also take your privacy rights seriously. Head here to learn more.

GETSHOPPING = $25 off $125, $75 off $250, $175 off $500

Seems like J. Crew has been a bit more stingy with the codes of late, no? And this one, while appreciated, has pretty steep thresholds. Lots of their stock is excluded (most 3rd party, most suiting, etc…) but there are a few desireables that are up for the cut. Most of their blazers are in, as are their own shoes. You can combine multiple, eligible items to trip those different tiers, so know that if you’re close to a threshold, it might be in your financial interest to pick up another item.

Code GETSHOPPING is also good for free shipping, no minimum. Looks like this sale is set to expire tomorrow, 2/16. Off we go with some picks.

Legacy Blazer in Ludlow or Crosby Fit – $313.00 ($388)

J. Crew Legacy Blazer | Dappered.com

Super 130s extra fine merino wool and half lined in the back. Top stitching around the lapel and pockets (instead of the more dressy pick stitching or no extra stitching at all) helps it to look more like a sportcoat than an orphaned suit jacket. Size shown above is an unaltered Crosby 40R on 5’10” / 185. Full review here.

Kenton Leather Pacer Boots ($248) + a Beanie ($12.99) = $185.99

J. Crew Kenton Leather Pacer Boots | Dappered.com

Gotta tip that second, $250 threshold. So find something cheap in the sale section, and you’ll end up paying less than if you hadn’t gotten above $250. Those boots have really solid reviews, appear to be J. Crew’s ode to the Alden Indy, and come with a goodyear welt. Word is they run a half size large.

Italian Wool Flannel Suits in Ludlow or Crosby Fit – $475 ($650)

J. Crew Italian Flannel Suits | Dappered.com

Yep, some suiting is included. Key word is “some.” Their year-round worsted wools and the like are out, but cold-weather, seasonal suiting is in. Not a ton of time left to wear the flannel suits this year, but with the code these J. Crew suits dip down to a much easier on the wallet price point.

Italian Cotton Ludlow or Crosby Fit Sportcoat + a Shoehorn = $181 ($228)

J. Crew Italian Cotton Ludlow Sportcoat | Dappered.com

Crosby? Yes indeed. They’re now making their fantastic, “Caspian Blue” cotton sportcoat in their Crosby fit. It’s still being made in the Ludlow fit, and along with the Caspian Blue, they also make the Ludlow in black as well as a “dark loden” green. But why the shoehorn? Turns out that the regular price on that sportcoat is awfully close to that second threshold, so by getting something inexpensive to tip the balance, it actually works out to be cheaper with the $75 off $250 discount.

Urban Slim Pants in Oxford Cloth + Irish Linen/Cotton = $134 total ($159)

J. Crew Urban Slim Pants | Dappered.com

In case you’re stocking up for the warm weather ahead. J. Crew’s 770 “urban slim” fit isn’t as tight as their twig + berries crushing 484 fit, but they don’t balloon out on most frames either. Both the oxford cloth and the Irish linen/cotton will do real well when the mercury starts to rise.

Italian Wool Dinner Jacket – $350 ($525)

J. Crew Italian Wool Dinner Jacket | Dappered.com

That red shirt makes it a little tough to visualize, but I’m thinking this jacket would actually look super sharp with the standard white dress shirt/black bow tie that black-tie calls for. Just different enough, but not super showy. Ludlow fit.

Textured Cotton Shawl Collar Sweater – $103 ($128)

J. Crew Textured Cotton Shawl Collar Sweater | Dappered.com

Still pretty pricey for a cotton sweater, but maybe something to keep an eye on for future sales. That said, J. Crew has nailed the cotton shawl collar thing in the past, so high hopes for this one.

Kenton Suede Plain Toe Boots ($228) + Boot Horn ($30) = $183.00

J. Crew Kenton Suede Boots & a Boothorn... to boot | Dappered.com

Do you need the boot horn to get into the boots? Of course not. Are the boots cheaper if you get the boot horn, and thus, tip that second threshold at $250? Yes. Yes they are. So, get the boot horn.

Italian Wool/Cotton Ludlow Jacket & Pant – $371 ($546)

J. Crew Italian Wool/Cotton Ludlow Suit | Dappered.com

Nice ticket pocket. The only real 4-season suit (or, at least spring/summer/fall suit) that’s up for the code. Could be a real winner, and something to lean on once the weather gets warmer. Haven’t seen it in person, but wool/cotton blends can be a nice mix of texture and crispness.

Redwing 875 Boots – $205 ($280)

J. Crew Redwing 875 Boots | Dappered.com

Classics and for good reason. Made in the USA. One of the few, 3rd party items that’s up for this particular code.

The Oh HELL No: Cashmere Cardigan – $550 ($725)

J. Crew Cashmere Cardigan (it's expensive) | Dappered.com

J. Crew is making and selling a seven hundred and twenty five dollar sweater?

This free shipping no minimum + $25 off $125, $75 off $250, $175 off $500 code GETSHOPPING expires tomorrow, 2/16/16. Meanwhile, on the less expensive J. Crew front, Factory is running a 40% off everything (prices are marked) + extra 30% off and free shipping no min. code SHOPTODAY. Wool Suiting seems to be excluded. Prices on basics like shirts and chinos are good, not amazing, but solid especially with the free shipping no minimum deal.
