Reader Appreciation Week: Cornwallis Oxfords – $327.25* ($385)
*NOTE: The Cornwallis is 15% off during their Rediscover America Sale. Strands, 5th Ave., and the single monk Warwick have all dropped from $385 to $279. Daltons have dropped to $329.
Consider this week five days of saying thank you. Without your readership, your emails, and your willingness to spread the word, Dappered wouldn’t exist. The collection of good guys who frequent this corner of the internet is by far the greatest achievement of this website. And to say thank you, we’ve put together five, splurge-worthy giveaways that’ll hopefully express our gratitude. Welcome to Dappered’s Reader Appreciation Week. Good luck, and thanks a million.
It’s probably not easy for Allen Edmonds when it comes to introducing new models. They’re a heritage company, and that means they’ve got a lot of loyal customers who love their classic cap toes and wingtips. Yet as a company they can’t ignore new, younger customers who may want something a little less traditional.
The brand new Cornwallis Dress Oxford might be the rare design that not only pleases, but also excites each of those bases.
Built on the (new?) 1943 last, they’re sleek but not pointy, with a nicely rounded off, slight chisel toe. The fit on a pair of 10.5 D Cornwallis compared to the very popular 5-last (Park Ave, Strand) is maybe a little tighter through the front of the foot, but that’s without any break in time.
For the design details, what they decided to include, and leave off, is spot on. They’ve got plenty of wingtips and cap-toes in their lineup, so Allen Edmonds decided to go with a smoother look here. No interruption of the toe aside from the swirling, V-shaped medallion the extends all the way down to the very point of the toe. The broguing sweep that starts at the base of the lacing and carries all the way to the back of the heel is reminiscent of a corset, making for one sexy hour-glass from above.
Goodyear welted of course, and made in Port Washington Wisconsin. Currently available in their three, wheelhouse calfskin shades of walnut, black, and the brown burnished shown above. The Cornwallis just debuted this fall, and here’s to hoping they find a place in the permanent Allen Edmonds lineup.
Enter here to win a pair of Allen Edmonds Cornwallis Oxfords in your size and chosen shade of calfskin. One entry per person. Deadline for entry is 11:59 pm ET 9/29/15. Thanks to Allen Edmonds for providing one of their newest models for reader appreciation week!
