Style Scenario: Oktoberfest

What are you going to wear? Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. The air is crisp. The leaves are turning. And the beer is flowing. Oktoberfest is rooted in a days long wedding reception in Munich back in the 1800’s. And it has led to modern day beer guzzling shenanigans around the globe. More than likely, some form of Oktoberfest is taking place in your neck of the woods this year. Since the weather is starting to cool, we’re concentrating on keeping the chill off your skin… and in your beer. Casual and comfortable, yet still put together is the name of the game. Prost!

The Sweater: J. Crew Cotton Cashmere Shawl Collar – $58.50 w/ SHOPNOW ($78)  A casual but stylish way to ward off the cold. Wool is great, but it’s not always the easiest to clean. There will be spilled M¤rzen, and a top layer that’s easy to toss in the wash might be a good play here. Meanwhile, the shawl collar will keep the chill in the air off the back of your neck.

The Shirt: Old Navy Men’s Baseball Tee – $10.46 w/ STYLESAVE ($14.94) An easy way to have a bit of color peeking out from beneath the sweater. Plus, the it will add an extra layer of warmth if you’re outdoors and it’s cooling off. If it’s going to be on the warmer side you can go with a short sleeve tee underneath.

The Pants: GAP 1969 Black Fill Cords – $35.97 w/ HAPPY ($59.95) Super rich and saturated. Corduroy is a classic fall fabric, and is soft to the touch. Between the corduroy and the cashmere in the sweater, the Frauleins may not be able to keep their hands off you.

The Belt: 1901 Made in the USA Roller Buckle Belt – $49.50 A casual brown leather belt, and that crosshatched roller buckle adds a bit of visual texture. 1901 is a solid house brand from Nordstrom, which will ship, and allow you to return it, for free. The photo above makes the belt look lighter, but an up close picture on Nordstrom’s site seems to show the shade somewhat darker.

The Watch: Timex The Waterbury w/ Gray Dial – $64.99 From their new retro-leaning Waterbury Collection. The gray face with orange indices is a nice tribute to the colors of the season.

The Shoes: Florsheim Rockit Chukka – $109.95 Can be worn casually or a bit dressed up, and the medallion on the toe is a nice touch. They’ll take take the level of your outfit up a notch, and show that even when the objective is to raise a few steins, looking good is still in play.

The Sunglasses: Cole Haan Rectangle Sunglasses – $34.97 Great looking sunglasses for a reasonable price through Nordstrom Rack. The slight keyhole + tortoise frames should look great on most faces.

The Hat(s): Beistle Company – German Alpine Hat (6 pack) – $56.19 Alpine hats for you and five of your friends. Once you’ve had enough beer you can practice your yodeling.
