Got all that? This is one of the better J. Crew Factory sales in recent memory. Everything is half off their “valued at” prices, even suiting, and an extra 20% gets knocked off with the code HOTSALE… except for on Suiting. Which is still half off.
Right. A tad confusing, but worth it in the end. Plus, there’s a few newish arrivals that are worth a good strong look. Not a bad way to kick off the upcoming long weekend. Off we go with some picks…
As low in price as this is gonna get. Really nice 55% linen / 45% cotton fabric on this one, with the back being totally unlined. Acetate lined sleeves. Horizontal stripes are different, but oddly enough they’re easy to work into the wardrobe. This thing has been seeing a lot of work in 100+ degree temps. Size shown is a medium with sleeves shortened and no work at the waist. Fits like all their other Thompson sportcoats. One of the better affordable jackets of this season. And yes, HOTSALE might not work on suiting, but it DOES work on blazers. Usually this thing is around the high $80s to low $100s. It’s a real bargain at this price.
A super dressed-down version of the usually starched and stuffy banker collar shirt. Not sure how to wear it? Here’s just one example. Wear it like any ol’ button down this summer, and don’t ditch it once fall rolls around. That quick bit of contrast would look great under a solid merino V-neck in the autumn.
A true lightweight, all cotton chino made in warm weather colors. Noticeably airy right out of the box, and wears extremely well in temps north of 80. Their “Sutton” fit claims to be slim through hip & thigh, with a 15.5″ opening at the leg. Trimmer, but not so tight that air can’t move around between the pants and your skin. Also available in their straight fit “Bleecker”, or super slim “Driggs”. Colors may vary depending on fit though. Size shown is 33×30. Looks like they’re out of the light blue shade shown above, but there’s plenty of other summer-ready shades to pick from.
Not a bad price for a light-grey oxford cloth suit. Outdoor party / super hot day date / etc… should do just fine. Nice reviews too. It’ll wrinkle, but so what?
Lotta colors, prints, and fabrics here. For most guys, a 9″ inseam is perfect. Neither too long nor too short. Big fan of that dark floral print option, as well as the striped oxford cloth.
Suiting is usually excluded from codes (and is excluded from the extra 20% off), and therefor their Thompson wool suit separates don’t often dip under $300. But with the blanket 50% off, they’re now just under $220. And they’re a steal at that price. Fused, yes, but the jackets aren’t stiff or rigid. Full review of their Voyager suits can be found here. Cliff’s Notes version: They fit like other Thompsons, the medium grey shade is super versatile, and the fabric does seem to decently resist wrinkling and creasing. Remember, HOTSALE doesn’t work on these, but it will on anything else that’s non-suiting in your shopping cart.
Horizontal stripes, just like the Linen/Cotton Thompson fit sportcoat, and hopefully the exact same linen cotton fabric. If it is? Expect a breezy, but still decently dressed up fabric that’ll be easy to dress up or down..
The good news is that they’ve recently added the navy version on the right. The bad news is that it looks dumpy as hell online (the heck is going on with the lapel at the button?) BUT… that’s what a tailor is for. All linen, unconstructed, and a great way to wear navy in the dead of summer.
Just a belt with a bit of color. A very, very, inexpensive belt with a bit of color. And thanks to the fact that it’s a blue & green combo, not something like baby blue and white, you can easily transition this thing into your fall wardrobe.
Pictured above is last year’s model, so the shade might differ slightly. But what is the same is that this is as close to a year-round sportcoat as it gets. Cotton twill, totally unlined back, and easy to tailor non-functioning sleeve buttons.
Not as dressed up as the Bedford (no front crease), and made in the not too straight, not too slim Sutton fit. Stripes on both of these.
Target-level prices. The “pieced” tees are all cotton, with the heathered tees being a cotton poly mix. And their slimmer fit on these basics is always appreciated.
Remember to use the code HOTSALE for the extra 20% off everything except for suiting. Prices above in red reflect use of that extra 20% off where possible. Code & 50% off sale expires on 7/5/15.
