Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below, plus bonus sales if need be. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
Just when you think clearance season has come to an end, GAP restocks their sale section and drops a 40% off code. Not bad. Those flannel pants certainly feel and wear more expensive than a 40% Wool, 30% Polyester, 29% Rayon, 1% Spandex blend. Size shown above is a 32—30 in the straight fit. And that French terry cardigan is sorta the definition of a warmer weather laid-back sweater. Code HAPPY runs through tomorrow, and is also good for 25% off regular priced stuff.
The Pick: All City Oxford Cloth Button Down in Blue or White – $35.00
According to F&T: “One of the factories we currently rely on confided that they might have to lay people off unless we increased production while they looked for more customers. Factory closings are no joke; it happened to our first ever underwear factory and we can’t let it happen again. To avoid that fate, WE PICKED TWO PRODUCTS FOR ONE VERY SPECIAL DEAL. They agreed to manufacture them at zero mark-up (read: no profit for the factory owners, just uninterrupted paychecks to the employees) so we could sell more. We’re not marketing them up either (not a single penny!) and we’re passing 100% of the savings on to you!”
So the pessimist might see that “we’re not marketing them up either” as a Freudian slip, because even if the story is 100% true (they say “one of the factories is in trouble, yet the shirts and pants are made in two different factories… Philly and Brooklyn respectively), it really is brilliant marketing. The optimist would tell the pessimist to lighten up. The realist would say: $35 for a made in the USA OCBD is pretty darn good. This is a pre-funding event, so shipping won’t take place until late March. You buy, then they make. Returns are for store credit only. UPDATE: Looks like they’re now only pre-funding Large, XL, and XXL in the OCBDS? Strange.
Interesting. Can’t recall Massimo Dutti (or their parent brand Zara) doing any kind of “Transitional” sale like this before. Usually they stick to their summer sale, their winter sale… and that’s it. It’s not site wide like their bi-annual sales, but instead it’s a somewhat limited, yet not totally lacking selection of items. Everything still appears to ship & return for free. Remember, Massimo Dutti runs pretty slim and trim, so consider sizing up. Sizes seem to be moving a bit faster than normal on these things.
J. Crew doesn’t go too long without offering up an extra 30% – 50% off sale items code. This be the latest. A few new additions to their sale section worth noting, including a charcoal version of their Topcoat that had yet to hit the sale section and has plenty of sizes at post time. Topcoat in charcoal doesn’t appear to be final sale yet either. And then there’s the Kenton Boots. Review here, in case you missed it yesterday.
For the longest time, Suitsupply’s online outlet homepage said something to the effect of: “we’re sorry, the online outlet for the U.S. is now closed.” Now, some of us fools have kept checking back in from time to time to see if it would ever re-open. It hasn’t reopened, but… it doesn’t say it’s closed anymore either. The graphics have changed too, and there’s also now a field to input your email address. And that’s it. Hm.
The Pick: Allen Edmonds Warwich Single Monks – $288.75 ($385)
Macy’s is one of the few retailers that doesn’t exclude Allen Edmonds from their frequent store-wide codes. And they got the new single monks in? You’d have to think those won’t go on sale at AE for a good long while. (buries head in hands, sighs deeply, gently weeps)… First seen over here. Well, anyway, more Allen Edmonds on sale at Macy’s can be found this way.
