Thompson Unconstructed Sportcoat in Twill – $54.59 FINAL

One of last year’s best casual sportcoats is now down to Target (the store) like pricing, and again, it ships free. Almost totally unconstructed, a nice versatile color, a good cut, and non functioning sleeve cuff buttons. Full review here. This one is from clearance, so it’s final sale. It does look like they’ve introduced an almost identical version for the spring. That one isn’t final sale, and is running $82.60 with the code.

 

Thompson Oxford Cloth Suit Jacket & Pant – $193.20 ($276)

Summer wedding coming up? Somewhere between a chino suit and a linen suit… is oxford cloth. Yeah, it’s gonna wrinkle, but it shouldn’t wrinkle as bad as linen, and it won’t be as stiff as chino. In a very pale grey.

 

SLIM Lightweight Chambray Shirt – $31.15 ($44.50)

About the same price as the GAP lightweight chambrays depending on codes. But unlike the GAP shirts, if you buy just one of these today, it’ll still ship free with the code. While the GAP shirt does fit decently trim, JCF slim shirts usually run closer to the body. Nice to see retailers making chambray shirts without the stiff fabric and standard workwear details.

 

Thompson Chino Suit Jacket in Navy – $45.49 FINAL

Yes, it’s a suit jacket, but it makes for a terrific, polished cotton blazer on its own. Final sale since it’s in the clearance section. Scattered sizes on this one. Better looking in person, especially if you don’t… y’know, button both of the jacket’s buttons.

 

Double Blue Stripe Belt – $17.15 ($24.50)

The cheaper version of the main line J. Crew “ticking stripe” belt. A warm weather staple for plenty.

 

SLIM Washed Button Down – $27.65 ($39.50)

Not an oxford cloth, but instead, a lighter weight washed poplin. Lots of patterns to pick from as well, but having a few white button downs on hand comes in handy (on-hand handiness!) during the warmer months.

 

SLIM Bedford Pant in Chambray – $38.15 ($54.50)

More texture and lighter weight than a chino. Still looks great with a white polo and canvas sneakers.

 

Unconstructed Sportcoat in Open Dot – $96.60 ($138)

Full disclosure: This is a big fat NO for a lot of us. But prints are popular this year. And if you’re the type to experiment and have a little more “fun” than some of us fuddy-duddys? Then by all means.

 

Pinstripe Grey Suit Jacket & Reg. Fit Pant = $165.20 ($236)

Well that’s a more than fair price. For whatever reason, this pinstripe Thompson just doesn’t appear to be catching many eyes. Perhaps most think pinstripes are a little too rigid/white collar? But they’re pretty easy to dress down. This is one of those suits that’s light enough in shade, and subtle enough in striping, that you could even go tieless if you wanted to. No slim fit pant option on this one. Just the straight fit. Versatile shade of grey too.

 

Lambswool Sweatshirt Sweater – $16.24 or Colorblock Sweater – $22.09 FINAL

Bot final sale, both made from lambswool, both super cheap and ship free.

 

Thompson Elbow Patch Sportcoat in Tweed – $76.29 FINAL

Lots of sizes left in the navy shown here, with not as many sizes left in the charcoal. Wool/Nylon blend on this one, with the very familiar Thompson fit & welcome non-functioning sleeve buttons at the cuff.

 

Linen Cotton Shorts – $34.65 ($49.50)

Shorts. That kinda weather seems real far off for some. But it’ll get here. And while some of us are completely committed to the Target Merona Oxford cloth line, an extra lightweight linen blend pair like these might just do the trick on super-sweltering days.

 

Charcoal or Navy Worsted Wool Jacket & Reg. or Slim Pant = $221 – $270

Not as low as they’ve gone in the past, but still a decent price. This time around it’s the charcoal option that’s actually cheaper (it was the navy a month or so ago that was down to the low $200s… not this time). Double vent jacket. Great button stance. Size shown here is a 38R on 5’10” 165lbs. Full review over here. Final price is going to depend on which color you’re going after, and whether or not you choose a slim or reg. pant.
