So it’s certainly not the Anniversary Sale. Nor is it as large as the Half-Yearly Sales for Men (next one coming up after Christmas). And while it does sorta feel like it’s Nordstrom simply saying “Hey! Over here! Got a Sale Section you haven’t paid attention to lately!”… there are some worthy items worth a quick browse. That and even though it’s a clearance, everything ships and returns for free. Over 3,000 items. 31 pages of browseability. Picks below have been limited to items with at least a decent size selection (at post time) unless otherwise noted. Let’s go.
Seems difficult to get these things under three bills. They were at this price during the recent Rediscover America Sale, only that option that AE was selling had the combination tap sole. Leather sole here. Pricey, but, might have to wait a while to get these under three hundred for first quality.
Unlined? We might have something here. Looks like it leans quite a bit towards this on the color scale (wheel?), and the unlined interior is a big help for those of us who like less structure to their blazers. Trim fit. Pick stitching. Patch pockets. Might be worth a shot. 52% wool.
A word of caution on these 1901 Extra Trim fit shirts. They’re very trim. That, and the collars can run small. So if you’re a bigger dude who’s just looking for a more tailored fit? Might want to look elsewhere. But if you’re on the real lean side, and you’re looking to pick up a couple of do anything button down collar shirts, then carry on.
Not quite as rumpled & relaxed as the regular Alphas, but still slim. Dressed up a bit, but still not having any of that center crease business. More than a few colors to pick from. 97% cotton, 3% elastane. Sizes seem to be scattered.
Mid $200s is the target price, for a lot of us, for a wool J. Crew blazer. The Nordstrom house brand Wallin & Bros does fit trim, but they’re cut a little more square than Ludlow. Partially lined, so it’s got that going for it, and the lighter wool plaid will stand out nicely during the cold months. Still on the steep side. So, you best be in love with that pattern.
Sometimes, all a guy wants is a pair of shoes. Just shoes. Just a cap toe or something. And nothing that’s going to cost an arm & a leg. These would be those shoes.
Oooh. Hey now. “Just different enough.” And that price, plus the free shipping & returns (gloves can be tough to fit through the internets) make them plenty interesting.
Minimalist, cashmere, and nicely affordable despite being cashmere. The free shipping does help here too. UPDATE: Dammit. Sold out. That was fast.
Is it the prettiest thing ever? Nope. But it’s no nonsense and technical while still being a bit flexible. NXT nylon exterior. Lots of places to put things despite being slim. 15.5″ wide.
Huge fan of Skagen’s new Multifunction layout on the “Holst” line. Tons of class there. But this color combo might not be for everyone. Was hoping the silver & black was going to get a cut during this sale too, but, alas… not to be. There is a 3rd party seller on Amazon that has em’ for $15 off
That’ll work. Black, so not the #menswear crowd’s preferred hue, but c’mon. True oxford, wingtip, sleek without losing it’s conservative shape. Now just $33 more than a pair of 2nds during the Allen Edmonds Factory Outlet sale reductions. And these from Nordstrom ship & return free. Was going for $240ish during the Anniversary Sale, but that’s a once a year type situation.
For those currently riding the Joe Maddon high thinking “maybe this really could be our year”.
For those who are currently thinking “that was our year”… again.
These were new to the sale section… in September. Same price now. Still a good deal. But nothing new here. Made in the USA of course. Goodyear welt. All that fun stuff.
Tough Mutha*#$ka Chukkas. Still, see the note about the Red wing moc toes above. These have been languishing in the sale section for quite a while as well. Lotta sizes though. Lots.
Not really polo season anymore, but the Earl is a trimmer fitting, retro-inspired classic that shouldn’t go out of favor any time soon. Piping, good sleeve length, and a super soft pique fabric.
In case your favorite pair of sneakers took too much of a beating over the summer.
Almost two hundred dollars is pretty steep for a cotton blazer, but these aren’t really the rumpled type. If memory serves, saw these in person, and they were pretty polished looking. But know they were borderline stiff. Might want to skip these, unless you’re really wanting to embrace the burgundy look this fall. Matching pants for the navy, grey, and khaki jackets can be found here. Not surprisingly, there’s no matching pants for the burgundy blazer. That’d be really going full Burgundy.
Fair price for a pair of Spanish made Magnannis. Great color, perfect toe. Suit worthy for sure, and the single monk keeps the flash down compared to double monks.
It’s pre-Prilosec-OTC Larry! Man. Eighty bucks on sale, and you don’t even get the sleeves. No wonder he developed heartburn. Git-R-DoneAway
The Nordstrom Fall Clearance Sale is set to end on Tuesday 11/11. What happens then? Not quite sure. Items don’t usually dip in and out of their sale section unless they sell out. Prices might stay the same, prices might go down further, some items might go back to full price, or some combination of all three.
